@wyatt_claypool Rupa is an Indian apologist. She has trash India centric takes on most things. She blocked me because I called her out on incorrectly using Matthew 7:1 (Judge not lest you be judged). She got some points during the Convoy, but she's had trash takes in the years following

Yeah it’s called lying. I feel for business owners who are heavily over-taxed and regulated. But the idea that the youth won’t do these jobs is ridiculous. The difference is that TFW’s will always be able to out-compete youth every time because they’re tolerance levels for low wages and unreasonable hours is very high because their priorities are completely different than an actual citizen who needs to be able to build up the money to buy a house in Canada, not somebody who can rent a hole in the wall apartment and stock away money to bring home to a country where the spending power of a Canadian minimum wage is far higher. It’s not really a free market when there is always going to be a country where people are so poor that they are willing to come to Canada to take the jobs of the youth as long as they get to take some of that money back to their home country where it’s worth 10x more. I say all this as somebody who worked the same liquor store supervisor job for over five years, barely above minimum wage the entire time, never getting a pay increase.

I used to think Canada’s youth unemployment problem was all about the temporary foreign worker program, until I started talking to small business owners who can’t get young people to show up. My latest. thefp.com/p/this-week-in…

@Prairielily22 @NekoMugiSupreme Doesn't the HoC and the majority of provinces have to agree to let separation happen? Even if AB gets the votes in a referendum (questionable, lots of urbanites and immigrants in AB cities that will say no), they will get bogged down in legal battles for 20 years

@Nekomugisupreme asked me the following question: After Alberta separates, how long do you think it will take for Saskatchewan to follow suit? Here's my long answer: It's difficult to say--it depends on several factors. I don't think (but I hope I'm wrong) that Scott Moe has the balls to stand up to Mark Carney and he lacks the political aptitude to play the game like Danielle Smith does. I think everything hinges on a change of Sask Party leadership and we need someone good to step forward to replace him. From where I'm standing now, I don't see any good contenders from within the current Sask Party caucus but I could be wrong, perhaps there's a backbencher in his ranks with some gumption, or we need a pro-freedom, pro-independence outsider to run for the leadership. Then the key for the independence movement is to mobilize in support of that candidate. If no one decent steps up to lead or the Sask Party (via influence from the federal Conservatives who want to kibosh independence) blocks a decent candidate, I think the Sask Party will be dead in the water but the next provincial election isn't until 2028. That's bad news for the independence movement although it will also be enough time to build up a party to replace the Sask Party. So to sum it up: IF Scott Moe has the balls, he'll follow quickly behind Alberta and either change the legislation for citizenship-led referendums to create a straightforward process with achievable signature thresholds, or he'll just skip the petition step and announce the date for a referendum (Timeline = October 2026 to November 2026) IF Scott Moe refuses to act, we have to wait for a change in Sask Party leadership IF we get a new pro-freedom, pro-independence leader (or at least a leader who sits on the fence) then they will enable a referendum to take place (TIMELINE = April 2027 to May 2028) IF we don't get a suitable replacement for Scott Moe, then we need to build up a suitable political party replacement for the Sask Party and wait till 2028 for the next provincial election (TIMELINE = APRIL 2029-APRIL 2030) There are a few other factors which could be gamechangers. When an independence referendum succeeds, what will the next moves be for existing Alberta MPs in the federal Conservative caucus? Do they just cling desperately to federalism despite the fact that the majority of their constituents have chosen to separate? Or will they cross the political threshold and publicly support separation? What will Battle River-Crowfoot MP, Pierre Poilievre do? If the Alberta MPs cross over to the independence camp, then many of the Saskatchewan MPs will likely follow. Then what choice would Scott Moe have but to follow them? What moves will the federal Liberals make? Will they try to hold Saskatchewan hostage financially? What moves will the U.S. make? Ultimately, this could be the most important factor in all this. Most of Saskatchewan's trade is with the U.S. if the U.S. recognizes Alberta's independence, this opens the door for Saskatchewan to pursue independence as well.

@realchasegeiser @TheLaurenChen Was the bill that high because that many people were eating? Or the food was that expensive? Big difference between serving 10 people vs 4

@TheLaurenChen Tipping ten percent on a bill that size is cheap as fuck. The waiter shouldn’t act entitled but people shouldn’t go out if they aren’t going to tip. It’s trashy karen behavior

Assuming these people were at the restaurant for 2 hours A $60 tip means this server made $30/hour off this ONE TABLE Is that not enough for a waiter to make? Does being a waiter really need to be a $150/hour job? The entitlement behind a lot of tipping culture is insane

@Mappy6984 The restaurant should pay the wait staff a decent wage, and factor it into the cost. Why should the public be expected to pay their pay? I've always seen tips as something extra for great service. People today seem to expect a tip, just because.

The Federal government wants more drugs and less deportations. It’s warfare. Remember during tax season this year to make sure you don’t accidentally claim the wrong amount so you get a bunch of money back or so you qualify for low income support by accident. Keep in mind you are not accountants, how are you supposed to know how to do everything right? “Swati Narula, 27, and Kunwardeep Singh, 29, each faced one count of trafficking a controlled substance and one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking”

Canada has a weird civilizational glitch where extreme restrictions on traditional vices like drinking and smoking exist right beside extreme permissiveness over radical progressive social decay. 24-hour taxpayer-funded crack pipe vending machines are normal but liquor stores shut down at 11pm. Anti-smoking laws are among the strictest on earth yet a doctor can legally euthanize you on the same day of your request. Puberty blockers for kids are treated as progressive healthcare that needs to be more accessible while they throw up huge barriers to access nicotine pouches. It’s the strangest inversion of priorities imaginable. Sometimes I think it’s a combination of Anglo Protestant moralism and bureaucratic socialism, but whatever the root cause, Canada manages to be simultaneously puritanical and nihilistic in a way that almost no other country is

Remember when Carney went to China to make a deal! Well part of that deal included giving away Canada to China. Chinese have massive influence over Vancouver, we all know how easy it is to control First Nation chiefs that have no dignity. China will be making all the port decisions from now on. Canada remains undefeated as Fake And Gay world champion.

If Alberta and Saskatchewan formed a new country together, what should it be called? Do we keep Alberta, given its larger population and leadership on independence? Bring back Buffalo, a historic proposed name for the region? Or create something new?

Canadian conservative parties didn't take principled positions against almost any of the most destructive policies now plaguing us ("self-identified" gender, uncontrolled immigration, etc.). They did so because they worried it could get them branded as bigots and they would lose. But they lost anyway, and now they also lost a chance to be right.

@Prairielily22 @YukonStrong Winnipeg wants to be Ontario. The rest of the province is ok, but 3/4 of the population is in Winnipeg. Thats why they would never join the West, and honestly MB would be more trouble than its worth, unless there was a mechanism for portions of a province to secede

That map is wrong about Manitoba. I spent almost 12 years there from the age of 17 to the age of 29 and lived in many places, both rural and urban, including Brandin, Winnipeg, the rural East and the rural West. I also did plenty of fishing up in northern Manitoba so I got to know parts of it well. Rural Manitoba is identical ro rural Saskatchewan. Manitoba is a western provinces, a prairie province, and should not be lumped in with Ontario. Just because the province has an NDP government doesn't mean its an NDP province. Rather, its reflective of just how stinky the Progressive Conservatives have gotten there. That party is absolutely atrocious. What's clearly needed is a new party. Winnipeg is very much like Calgary, with Conservative suburbs and Conservative parts of the city but New Canadians vote Liberal or NDP and the way the ridings are drawn benefits those parties. There's also the big First Nations population, an estimated 30% of Manitoba and that fact really effects the election results--many First Nations vote NDP.

It's going to seem real weird to future generations that every single rich, democratic country implemented a system where foreigners could show up, say a magic word and then instantly get residency and free stuff.

The vast majority of asylum seekers aren't vulnerable people. They're freeloaders who showed up expecting to be cared for by Canadians after giving up on fixing their own homes. We're the victims here, not them.
