I say this every year, but do remember, Memorial Day is a day of remembrance for those who died for our freedom. While I’m not saying you shouldn’t celebrate (my family is gathered and having a big barbecue), this day is anything but happy. It’s somber. So many have died….

Memorial Day calls us to remember our war dead; to honor through action the lives they lived, the families who carry their memory, and the sacrifices that make possible our way of life.

On Memorial Day, we pay tribute to the brave men and women in uniform who gave their lives for this country that we love. It is a debt we can never fully repay, but we must never stop trying. I’ll always be grateful to our fallen heroes and their families, whose sacrifice reminds us of what it means to live for something greater than ourselves.
