it’s because people like warm vocal tones and are used to hearing songs that strongly utilize major keys and resolved tensions.
mads has a cold vocal tone, much of her music leans minor / has a minor tonic center, and has a modal feel. people’s ears aren’t used to that and it’s hard to make ear worms out of it.
gorgeous voice and great songs regardless.
