Our lecture programme, accommodation options, weekend plans etc. will be released in the coming weeks but if you are definitely planning on coming then advice is to book accommodation as early as possible. This year will be well worth the effort.

Our massive congratulations to Frank Taaffe, on his recent award of the Shackleton Medal from the SRGS. The Shackleton Medal is awarded for leadership & citizenship in a geographical field, & was awarded to Frank for his tireless work in establishing the autumn school & museum

Hello all, just a few updates, we have been busy preparing the programme for our 25th anniversary autumn school. SAS25 is taking place Oct 24-26 at the Abbey in Athy. CONFIRMED DATES. The museum will be opening at the end of the summer & will be open for SAS25.

Quite a few people have been asking about 2025 Autumn School dates, so we can confirm Friday October 24 - Sunday October 26 at the Abbey. This year will be our 25th anniversary and will coincide with the opening of our new Shackleton Museum, so is definitely worth attending!!
