@danielbraden18 Flying across the Atlantic in the 1930s, yeah that was hard. Hitting the autopilot button at 400 feet today, not hard. Pilots - AI is coming for your jobs. The unions can only protect your jobs for so long.

If flying was hard, we wouldn’t let kids do it. Just stop! You can fly in some states before you can drive. They will literally let a 21 year old fly commercial jets. But keep telling me how hard it is. 🤦‍♂️

@NuffSaid1960 Who lives about the bar? I’ve got no qualms with tipping - but when 18.75% is on there already it’s mind blowing

The tipping culture in America never fails to baffle me I won’t lie. A pint is around $9 (just under £7) which includes an 18.75% service charge (so around $7.50 for the actual pint itself, which isn’t too dissimilar to UK prices) and I’m fine with that. But then they give you a pen with the receipt to write an extra tip on and it’s so bloody awkward. So many questions going through my mind every time. What do you want me to do here? What was the 18.75% for? Are you not getting paid by the hour? How much are you getting of that service charge? How much more are you expecting? Do I look a tight bastard if I just do $1 more? I’d say I’m a very generous bloke too with my time and my money but it’s just mind-blowing stuff how this is a normality. Can’t beat just buying 3 pints in the UK (well Europe, let’s be honest) in a pub for around 18quid… and just giving a 20sheet to the barman and letting them keep the change 🍻

@JackDunc1 The costs of tickets to the games is a major part…. I regularly travel to the US for work, I looked up some tickets in Seattle as I was there on a match day… $550 for shitty seat, definitely not paying those prices!

@Wombat11412 @ATCO51 @xAviation So with all your experience you reckon that TS are always ahead of you? I landed in LHR yesterday and the weather was on all over the perimeter of the airfield but ahead of us (camera angle) was clear both of us even said at least if we go around it’s clear…

@shambock747 @ATCO51 @xAviation Interesting. The video showed no such weather. I guess the thunderstorms were invisible. Prove me wrong then. Provide the date of the video and the current weather at the time of touchdown. I didn’t get to 14,000 hours of flight time by being stupid.

Flights being cut… not because of demand, nbut because of fuel shortages. UK airlines now allowed to cancel flights in advance to save fuel. This is getting serious. ✈️

Rare footage of the Concorde aborting takeoff at Heathrow Airport — from a passenger’s perspective, complete with that iconic spool-up. Pilot: “One of the afterburners didn’t light up…” Not something you’d ever hear on a typical commercial flight — even back in Concorde’s era. Also… can we talk about liveries back then? The Virgin Atlantic Boeing 747-400 looked absolutely stunning, and that South African Airways Boeing 747 cameo at the end? Pure nostalgia. ✈️ 📹: u/TranscendentSentinel

I would like to congratulate the old bloke interviewed on ITV this morning, filling up his car and also filling up a fuel can “just in case”. It’s morons like you that mean there’s no petrol at my two local supermarket filling stations for those of us who have to drive to work.

@BenGrahamUK Why have so many independent forecourts closed in the last few years….? It’s because the margins are so small that family run businesses can’t make the numbers work, the high petrol prices come mainly for the government imposed duty

Rachel Reeves blaming forecourts is pure deflection. At 160p per litre: Tax: 80p Forecourt profit: 7p The government takes over 50%, which is around 10x more than forecourts. But somehow it’s the petrol stations fault? The public can see straight through this.

@MCCCANM And what about the check pilot giving you a surprise checkride? I hate those training pilots who can’t take a day off on a non training flight especially because you have given him the courtesy of a jumpseat… he can wait for the next flight in the future

Long two days of this trip. 3 of 4 flights so far had jumpseaters…not comfortable in a 737. One of them was a Check Pilot giving me a surprise checkride. Later, Flight Attendants got into it w/ Maintenance. 🤦 But… I’m a fan of boutique hotels & this is good! Fireplace is rare to find, but a butler’s pantry they drop stuff like ice when you call, so you don’t have to open the door? That’s pretty slick! Loaner cruiser bikes, free snacks & a shrine in every room… Apparently each room is themed & I got the Savannah. The ceiling has to be 12’ tall. I approve of “The Inn at 500”.

I’m about to get married, and my fiancé knows I have an inheritance that was left to me by my grandparents. It’s in my name only, and I’ve been saving it for years. Now he’s saying that before we get married, I should put the entire inheritance into a joint account so we can “start fresh together,” or he doesn’t think we should go through with the wedding. I’m 36 already and this is something my family worked hard to leave me. I’m torn between wanting to build a life together and feeling like I’m being pressured to give up something important to me. What do you think I should do? By isitmeaitah
