I resigned from OpenAI. I care deeply about the Robotics team and the work we built together. This wasn’t an easy call. AI has an important role in national security. But surveillance of Americans without judicial oversight and lethal autonomy without human authorization are lines that deserved more deliberation than they got. This was about principle, not people. I have deep respect for Sam and the team, and I’m proud of what we built together.

Literally had to run to a bomb shelter twice as I'm writing this... anyway...
Tokenization exists because the internet created a new kind of economic engine, the network, and our current ownership/incentive systems (SEC etc) can’t satisfy that reality.
Since ~2000, major value creation has come from networks built on the internet: marketplaces, social graphs, developer ecosystems, content platforms, and now open financial protocols. These networks aren’t built only by employees and investors. They’re built by participants. The people who show up early, contribute labor, supply liquidity, create content, moderate communities, host inventory, evangelize, iterate, and make the thing real. but the existing corporate rules cannot reward or identify those who contributed to building the network.
This was most evident during the @Airbnb ipo, when @bchesky pleaded to the SEC to allow him to give leading hosts options in the upcoming ipo. The SEC replied: “Currently, securities law prohibits private companies like Airbnb from giving equity to anyone other than employees and investors. “
So your (current) position is tokens are “equities, but better.” I’m saying: tokens represent a structural upgrade to the corporation itself.
And there's historical precedent, where major leaps in capitalism created new markets through novel organizational primitives:
- VOC (1602): the first widely traded joint stock company, enabling pooled capital for large-scale risk. (and mass genocide to get nutmeg)
- Limited liability (1800s): enabling participation without total ruin.
- ESOPs (1950s): enabling employees to own part of what they build.
And now Tokens (2020s): enabling participants in a network to own part of what they build.

How is immigration policy not something we can vote on?
Let’s not move the U.S. further into the immaturity of collective punishment.

@EthereumDenver @0xjoshua Awwww, big love to you, @0xjoshua!!! You continue to keep the good intentions rolling. ❤️🔥
English

@TrustlessState @fundstrat That down time is even a factor (much less a significant one) speaks volumes to what is considered ‘viable’ in blockchain anymore. 💔
English

"Ethereum has had ZERO downtime... that's what matters... Wall Street has already decided Ethereum is the chain they're going to build on"
@fundstrat gets it
Uptime, security, confidence is what matters

More truth like this, please. 🔥
Having worked for USAID, I saw from the inside how little attention was paid to the outcomes and how much was on layers upon layers of consulting agencies getting paid.
It was about soft power, not about actually helping.

@creedebeauvoir We women need to show when it’s safe/welcome.
You’re a hot ticket, Lovely — make the first move. ❤️🔥

@creedebeauvoir From the feedback I’m getting from male friends, we have thoroughly conveyed that women shop for men in dating-app catalogues and treat IRL interactions like “stranger danger.” They’re terrified of feeling like a creeper.

It's disheartening that the same conversation (read: savior bulls**t) continues on repeat.
When will westerners learn: the answers lie *within the communities*?
Asking questions > consulting "experts"
[But are we surprised that a 26-yo American dude thinks he has the answers?]

I lost all my respect for you, @MrBeast... Your charity work is just holding Africa back.

@0xjoshua The amount of mind power stuck focused on price vs. building value will perpetuate bear vibes.

@0xjoshua Having worked for USAID, I saw from the inside that the rates of pay were entirely unwarranted and excessive (e.g. my per diem was $83 in a country where I could eat lunch for $3) while the US touted $5B in aid to Africa…75% of which cycled back to US consultants.
English

@0xjoshua Have you ever spoken to the “recipients” of a USAID program in a developing country?
Having worked for USAID, I was always interested to chat with someone in a location displaying a program certificate. 9:10 said it was a ridiculous waste of money that accomplished nothing.
English

USAID is a net positive in the world and the lack of respect/understanding this administration has for American soft-power is going to be significantly more expensive (in the short, middle, and long term) than the “savings” generated from shuttering USAID entirely

BREAKING: State Department says it's officially shutting down USAID.
