Happy to share our latest paper on smouldering emissions from peat fires: *Particles emitted from smouldering peat: size‐resolved composition and emission factors* doi.org/10.1039/D4EA00… Peat fires are among the largest wildfires on Earth, and their emissions contribute to extensive regional haze. In our study we evaluated the mass‐ and number‐weighted emission factors and the size‐resolved chemical composition of particles produced in laboratory peat smouldering fires. We found high levels of particle pollution, with metals being particularly concentrated in the fine particle fraction, raising concerns for regional air quality. Our findings provide valuable insights for future research on particle exposure health effects and atmospheric modelling.

New publication out on the Smoldering ignition and transition to flaming in wooden mulch beds exposed to firebrands under wind in the Fire Safety Journal. First in a series of work where we investigated the flammability of wooden mulches in California. doi.org/10.1016/j.fire…

The International Fire Safety Consortium led development of an amazing resource many don't know about: a wildfire webinar series produced in coordination with @ULFSRI. 15 weeks worth of lectures are posted covering the field. A great resource! buff.ly/4cHYGun

Students and I had a fun day filming for an upcoming television series on wildfires in the lab today. Smoke, embers, and fire whirls! (sorry I didn’t snag a photo of the whirl this time!)
