@menakadoshi @mkvenu1 I think Chakraborty owes a duty to the account and shareholders of the bank to spell out the “happenings and practices” that made him resign.

Atanu Chakraborty, HDFC Bank Chairman (part-time) resigns for alarming reasons. "Certain happenings and practices within the bank, that I have observed over last two years, are not in congruence with my personal Values and Ethics. This is the basis of my aforementioned decision." Keki Mistry appointed as interim part-time chairman. Resignation letter filed with BSE.

The quiet tension underlying this visit: not whether India has interests in Israel, but whether it can hold the ring across a region that is emotionally and strategically combustible. Foreign policy is a chessboard. West Asia is not. It is a living, grieving, shifting landscape. India is betting it can move pieces without being seen as choosing sides permanently. Time will tell whether that bet proves agile or overconfident.
Suhasini Haidar@suhasinih

'Decision to “stand with Israel," shouldnt come at cost of India’s relations with other West Asian powers, which expect India to remain steadfast to its historically calibrated regional balance, and to principles of peace, morality and compassion in the Israel-Palestine conflict': @the_hindu thehindu.com/opinion/editor…

@Chellaney Ironically, it is Nawaz Sharif’s party that has facilitated the transition under his brother’s watch.

Ex-PM Nawaz Sharif warned in 2020 that Pakistan's army was evolving from a “state within a state” into a “state above the state.” That prophecy has now come true. And as Sharif observed, this dominance is the “root cause” of Pakistan’s dysfunction — sustaining a violence-prone state that nurtures terrorist groups while suppressing democratic forces. thehill.com/opinion/intern…

@ShashiTharoor We condemn this heinous attack as Indians. That these distinguished Indians considered it necessary to issue a statement as ‘Indian Muslims’ is disconcerting.

"Pakistan is trying to build its third leg of the nuclear triad by equipping its Agosta-90B boats with 450-km range Babur-3 cruise missiles. The Hangor-class boats will certainly have the Babur-3 missiles," an officer told Times of India.
Rajat Pandit@IamRajat_Pandit

India’s major naval combat edge over Pakistan will begin to somewhat erode from next year onwards when the latter begins inducting eight advanced Hangor-class diesel-electric submarines from China. timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/india-wi…

Actions of political leadership and armed forces speak for themselves. Why the urge to claim ‘First Evers’ in country’s history. I can think offhand of two earlier instances of free hand to armed forces: Shastri in 1965 and Indira in 1971. What do our veterans think?
ANI@ANI

#WATCH | Rewa, Madhya Pradesh | Addressing an event at TRS College, Chief of the Army Staff, General Upendra Dwivedi says, "... The third 'C' is clarity. The thinking of our political leader was clear. They gave us a free hand. It has never happened in history before that the Prime Minister gave a free hand to the forces..."

Someone from your family has a high blood sugar level- 300 mg/dl. He is a diabetic for 20 years, and he developed the condition due to several factors which are still being researched. He wants to binge on sweets one night because of an important festival. He insists that it is a ritual in the family to celebrate with sweets and will not accept any rationing of the amount. Since he is already poorly controlled, the sweets will raise his blood sugar to 400 or 500 mg/dl, putting him at risk for serious complications, maybe requiring hospitalisation. The acute effect will be over in a couple of days but might leave residual damage, even if he escapes hospitalisation. He says that his sugar is already high and some sweets will not make much difference. Sweets didn't cause his diabetes. What will you advise him? Now replace the blood sugar level with AQI. And sweets with firecrackers. Any thoughts on what you should be doing? #diabetes #pollution #AirPollution #firecrackers #AQI #Delhi

I support Lokpal’s demand for 7 BMW cars. Struggling to prosecute a single case of corruption, it needs an ambient environment to pursue its mission. High octane may make it heady enough to launch it’s first strike against graft news18.com/india/lokpal-w…

@SushantSin I can understand the insecure Pakistani state indulging in bravado. But why is India doing it? Is it a sign of insecurity or more likely, does it work well politically?
