Absolutely not. The @officialgaa should pay no attention to the clueless people asking for that. Look at the scene in the picture with the article & the thousands of people imcluding whole families who attend the finals. That wouldn't be possible with €100 tickets at Croke Park.
The Irish Times@IrishTimes
Restore minor finals at Croke Park on day of All-Ireland senior deciders, Congress urged irishtimes.com/sport/gaelic-g…
English

@PaulOBrienKil @officialgaa Iv been to alot of All Ire finals & the days without a minor curtain raiser have been really drab.
I’d also say 99% of 17yo players would love if final was in Croke Park.
The point you make is valid also tho.
I’d imagine it will be a tight vote.
English

@edmcgreal And would the opposite be the case last week given the 10 missed goal chances?
English

Not sure how Galway won that game given Armagh's second half dominance... but their efficiency from the crumbs they got was incredible. Final moment shows the importance of not getting in the way of solo and go. #gaa
English

It is absolutely impossible to have any sympathy for Mayo
How many days since Mayo last won Sam?@howlongmayo
26,992 days
English

@edmcgreal @jm68975346 First time Galway didn't get the toughest possible draw since 2021 (7 of them consecutively) so calling them lucky for that is some serious stretch, even for your Mayo agenda. As is calling them lucky for not being shafted like Donegal and simply getting the standard turnaround
English

@shaund55 @jm68975346 It was 50-50 with Donegal to have six days so, yes, they got lucky there. Lucky v Derry and arguably against an Armagh team already through. And in the draw avoiding both Donegal and Kerry. I wouldn't complain about it, it's a big help!
English

Great thread here. Cahair posed that Donegal's complaints might work in their favour. Perhaps the opposite is true. The GAA don't like being questioned. Or maybe it's just another one of Galway's nine lives.
Cahair O'Kane@CahairOKane1
It still points to Armagh-Kerry on Sunday, Dublin-Tyrone on Saturday and a coin tossed between the other two games. Donegal’s protestations over recent events could be what sways it. Even if them going Saturday is more logical on paper, they’ll maybe get Sunday and Galway on Sat
English

@edmcgreal @jm68975346 They got lucky in 1 game (Derry) after being ridden raw by the draw they got (as top seed) to even be in that position. You think it's lucky for them to get a 7 day turnaround when every quarter finalist that's ever played has gotten a 7 day + turnaround before?
English

@jm68975346 B and C - Meath and Monaghan weren't playing this week so they've two weeks rest.
It was 50/50 who out of Galway and Donegal would get the Saturday. Galway got fortunate. As they have a few times. Luck a valuable commodity!
English

@ConanDoherty @JohnFogartyIrl So when your own Derry beat Armagh on pens in 2023 Ulster final, that was 100% about getting the Anglo-Celt and 0% about avoiding a group with Galway & Tyrone over a group with Donegal (bad at the time) & Monaghan? They're completely different and non connected competitions sure
English

@shaund55 @JohnFogartyIrl That's not a side issue, that's the very reason why it is in effect a separate competition. Two Division 1 teams play each other, the loser is a 4th seed. That means fighting for 1st seed to get in there isn't a normal structure. Everyone starts again in groups
English

@ConanDoherty @JohnFogartyIrl That's not reflective of the original point. Provincials and groups perform the same duty and thus is the same comp. They remove teams from the all Ireland and seed teams to go forward to the next stage. Ulster being very bloated w/ good teams is a side issue that we agree upon
English

@shaund55 @JohnFogartyIrl You're saying it like I'm on Ulster's side. Been saying for yrs provinces have to go. And because of them, you're not b) benefitting from chance of better draw because they're completely inbalanced by their nature (7 Ulster teams in Sam). Win a trophy which is class but separate
English

@ConanDoherty @JohnFogartyIrl That's results bias though. You try in the province to a) win a trophy, b) benefit from the chance of a better draw. Other high seeds have benefited from having a high seed. And ultimately it's mostly Ulster that's stopping us doing away with the outdated system in the 1st place
English

@shaund55 @JohnFogartyIrl That proves the point. One lost by 10 points in their only game, one won their province, and here they are in the same group, on the same amount of points after 2 games.
So outdated anyway being 4th seeds for losing away to Donegal (and being 2nd for beating Tipp at home)
English

@ConanDoherty @JohnFogartyIrl It is the same competition though. One went in with the expectation of a tough group as 4 seeds. One got completely screwed as 1 seeds
English

@JohnFogartyIrl Fs a separate competition! Derry could've beaten New York (if you're including after extra time and penalties)
English

@GaelicStatsApp @ConnStevenson91 He kicked multiple scores from 40+ from either foot in that final. Right from play and left from frees. Was that not your original Q?
English

@shaund55 @ConnStevenson91 which one 😂😂
2022 he’d some game!
from memory i think Kerry had something ridiculous like 85% shot to score conversion in the second half of that game too
English

@GaelicStatsApp @ConnStevenson91 What about the other AI final he played?
English

@ConnStevenson91 first player who popped into my head and then i thought about the AI final he had and some of those missed frees 😫😫
English

@LayngJ @EndaMcGearty Depends if you view Roscommon and Mayo as 'high-level' I suppose. But yeah he's completely finished 2 weeks after winning motm and 6 months after winning footballer of the year 👍🏻
English

@shaund55 @EndaMcGearty Can he still do two high level games and perform in both, just under a fortnight?
English

@Joe_Stalwart @m_brosnan You don't really understand English very well do you Joe?
English

@LayngJ @EndaMcGearty Father time has caught up in the 13 days since he won man of the match in the Connacht final
English

@EndaMcGearty Has Father Time caught up with Conroy? 36 and in those conditions. Was not influential at all.
English

@Joe_Stalwart @SmallerFishGAA What about every other decision given in the second half? Galway 51 connachts Mayo 47. We won't mention all Ireland totals 👍🏻
English

@SmallerFishGAA It’s that was outrageously soft?
What about the Galway penalty last weekend?
English

@RigsUtd @EndaMcGearty The two point free ROD dropped into Gleesons hands. Start there and work back
English

@RigsUtd @EndaMcGearty You basically ignored every other decision given in the second half so? Post penalty it was Galway getting rode to a farcical degree
English

@EndaMcGearty Penalty, Gleesons cancelled out 2 pointer and clear O’Shea free before the clock. 5 points difference
English

@o_reachtaire Mayo a close second to Liverpool. Miles back to third
English

@pebblesmeller @MarianDurkin @CahairOKane1 Jesus give it up. McLaughlin took 8-10 steps for his goal. Then from the KO Ruane claims a mark, runs into a stationary player and it's brought forward for a 2pt free. 5pts in favour in the space of 30 seconds
English

@MarianDurkin @CahairOKane1 He's not blaming the ref for the loss, no one is, but don't try & tell me there was even a 45/55 split on the big ref decisions. Coldrick cowardly dodged 1 yellow & 2 black cards. Kerry got 3 pts off ref decisions & Clifford was treated totally different to O*Shea.
English

David Clifford ‘got well looked after’ by refereeing calls says Mayo boss Kevin McStay.
Clifford finished the afternoon with eight points, four of them from play and another four from frees, three of which were awarded for fouls on the Fossa man himself.
