@Gerry_Flan93 @Shane_Mangan What are you clicking on? I'm responding to Joyce getting praise for it. It's the case in Dublin SOMETIMES too. But also quite common for managers to hold squad players because of injuries in their positions

Agree with Joyce but it tells you everything that this is a big statement. Players who don't make my SQUAD can play with club. It's crazy that he's one of a very select group of managers relaxed enough for that. I'd go further. Forget the 26. If you don't play more than 10 minutes, the county manager should have no say at all

Great stuff from Padraic Joyce. Hard to beat common sense. Players from outside the 26 were released to play for their clubs this weekend. "Sometimes lads come into panels, if they are not allowed to play, they end up not playing a game for months. I'd be totally against that”

NEW EPISODE! - Konsa roars - Bailey ignores - Watkins bores Harry Maguire Old Trafford brings out the worst in Aston Villa but it brings out the best in Liam. I don't say that lightly - he really cooked tonight. patreon.com/thevillapodcast #AVFC #MUFC

The race for 4th and 5th could have a lot of twists yet. Liverpool still look so lacking on coherence - this has been poor Chelsea have a very tough run-in, as they still adapt to Rosenior Villa badly need to find form, and get key players fit

The truth is Liverpool just aren’t very good. They play passive, slow football, don’t win enough duels and use wide players who can’t beat their man.

@willocallaghan Friday night club games are the greatest (As long as you don't have a manager trying to justify themselves with a Sunday morning session after it)

@CiDeely @RonanRocks1 When players like a manager, they help make these things work and help cover blindspots. When they don't like a manager, they can create blindspots when tactically and coaching wise there shouldn't be any

The more I experience managers/coaches in the game (both football & Gaelic football⚽️🏐) the more I see the No. 1 thing any new leader of a group needs is rapport with the players Tactical nous & game understanding counts for nothing if the players won’t play for you. Simple

Nobody's asking RTÉ to juggle all of it. Nobody. They just want the games available to stream, whether that's the GAA, different TV stations, or counties themselves. But I imagine rights don't help that. We see in the club championship that the broadcast facility is there - but it's not used
The Irish News@irish_news

On Tuesday evening, RTÉ head of sport Declan McBennett made a social media post that invited ‘mature debate’ around the future of GAA coverage and how to find the balance between ‘attendance or television’. Cahair O’Kane followed it up and spoke to McBennett in detail about the realities of the situation and what might change when the current broadcast deal ends at the end of 2027. People are pretty clear that they'd take the same coverage that counties are streaming of their own club championship (often one camera). Another problem is it's Tuesday night and there's still only one football game highlights on the YouTube of GAA and RTE (assume GAA have these rights)

Post Congress it’s time for mature debate on what is wanted/needed with regard to GAA coverage. Priority to Attendance or tv ? How many games given there are more than ever - what level of games & what level of coverage. Simply shouting for the game “I want to see” isn’t enough.

If you're going to return to the Bogside a few months after being attacked, you might as well do it with a balaclava on your shirt and take home three points
