came across kinsale capital ($KNSL), an e&s insurer that posted a 75.9% combined ratio and 29.3% roe in 2025. the interesting part is how: its software makes human underwriting economical on small, messy policies that larger carriers often ignore.

A startup doesn't have to be your life's work, but if it is, you become much harder to defeat. You play the long game and you outlast everyone. Because practically everyone else is an opportunist by comparison.

Guys look Claude helped me - a random guy in his basement - build a wetlab and do vibe genomics! I sequenced my whole genome despite zero lab experience, without my DNA leaving home! I put together my notes and a step by step guide here: vibe-genomics.replit.app It was a lot easier than I was expecting! car dealerships are saas businesses that don't know they're saas businesses. they spend hours grinding over ~$500 in front-end gross on a car sale. meanwhile $8k-$12k in lifetime revenue per customer sits untouched in service and f&i because nobody bothered to follow up. the car isn't the product. it's the free trial. service is the subscription. f&i is the upsell. retention is the only metric that matters. but most dealers are still running their p&l like it's 1995 — optimizing for unit sales instead of ltv. biggest arbitrage in a $1.2t industry and most of the incumbents are asleep at the wheel.
