🚨 Emergency Squawk 7700 over Germany A Boeing C-17A Globemaster III (RCH190) operated by the United States Air Force has declared Squawk 7700 — the international code for a general emergency — while flying over Germany. Check it on @wingbits map

Has anyone ever received a text message like this from UPS? the tracking number is real and the details look right but the number it’s come from seems like a scam? I only ordered from Weverse yesterday this seems too soon @UPS_UK

in an operational environment , which only has one definition in our aviation sector, we only use verified data. any data that is not verified is discarded. You data also comes from hardware that is not for operational use! not installed / maintained / operated by an certified entity in a controlled environment. falls under CNS .anex 10 or in our local terms CAP670 & CAP 168. I cant see how you could pass the 4 part safety case. no doubt your data can provide some useful insights but i would shocked if we ever lower the regulatory standard on the management on CNS equipment. if anything we upped the reg to include physical safety of hardware with all the latest security issues. dont get me wrong, i am a tech nerd and love what you guys made. but dont try pushing it as anything comparable to the operational systems we use in ATC or onboard an AC.

🚨 Yesterday, our stations spotted a plane spoofed mid-flight between Sweden and Poland, jumping erratically into Russian airspace. GPS spoofing is up 500% YoY. Over 1,500 flights are now spoofed daily (vs. 300 last year). While pilots can handle it, it's still concerning to observe and can be incredibly dangerous. Our stations (the blue dots) picked up the anomaly and triangulated the aircraft’s true location. 🛰️ This is why aviation needs a proof-of-location layer – now, not later. This is why Wingbits exists.  And you’re building it with us.

There are several ways you could possibly solve that: - you knew where the ground stations were before any spoofing occurred, and/or have a secondary confirmation of their location - your ground stations cover a large area making it much harder to spoof the GNSS across them all - corroborate the data with satellite based MLAT - corroborate the ground station position with other geolocation techniques - use emerging technologies such as OSNMA from Galileo to verify the GNSS packets This is not an exhaustive list but I'm just trying to demonstrate that it is possible to solve for some of these things. One thing's for sure... It will be interesting to see how it develops over next 5+ years with drones etc!

and i i quote "Yes, that's how multilateration works. You can use it to correct ADS-B position signals with spoofed GPS based on the time it took to receive the same signal from several ground stations." we are back at this.. how will you correct ADS-B position with spoofed GPS when the RX is in LOS of spoofed AC meaning rx is also receiving spoofed GNSS ? care to clarify ?

@MolonLabeVC @wingbits I don't think I ever suggested anything of the sort. Just that I wouldn't be surprised if the environment changes significantly in the future especially with integration of new types of aircraft such as BVLOS etc.

@MolonLabeVC @wingbits It depends what you mean by an "operational environment". But yes, usually this is used for SSR purposes and situational awareness.

A new wealth tax wouldn't work. Lots of people would leave the country because that's what rich people can do with themselves and their money. This magical solution needs to die out from left-wing thinking.

I beg people to understand that Britains extreme concentrations of wealth, hoarded into non-employment generating speculative assets (housing et al) is the primary reason we don’t have growth. Extreme wealth and inequality is the problem. So the rich leaving is actually good.

Excited to announce that Volkswagen's autonomous vehicle subsidiary, Volkswagen ADMT, has selected Bee Maps (powered by Hivemapper) spatial intelligence services to support its autonomous vehicle testing operations. Robotaxis + Hivemapper are a match made in heaven. Onwards 🚀

@MolonLabeVC @wingbits Wouldn't be surprised if that changes in future though... really beneficial to capture as much data as possible and analyse to see if any looks spoofed or unreliable. If you can process it into useful insights, more data is usually better than less, IMHO.
