Lots of fun in a quick visit to Bahia de Ceuta in the last few days, thanks to @medardonivosus and @chorlnev for the invitation. I'm always glad to be back and watch the snowy plovers moving back and forth on the field.

First winter census of Snowy plover in Bahia Todos Santos! Glad to be part of this amazing team today. We walked all over the bay trying to find snowy plovers and we got good numbers. Thanks Jonathan Vargas for the invitation. @ManometCenter @Coast_Sol_Prog @WHSRN

When traveling, I often have the urge to draw but don’t have the materials on me. So, I resort to drawing with a finger on my iPhone 😅 Some comparisons of Kentish and Snowy Plover plumages from the other day when art motivation struck!

My journey started two years ago, mid-pandemic. I worked on the #CeutaSnowyPloverProject and since then I've been interested on pursuing research on bird conservation and finally the time has arrived. Looking forward to start this new chapter this summer.

This is one of my favorite places and the main reason ornithology became my passion. I'm very glad to announce I got admitted to study a life science master degree in CICESE @PCVida_CICESE, focusing my research on shorebird conservation.

Despite the unusual conditions a couple of weeks ago, and the survival of the rescued nests, tides are keeping the #CeutaSnowyPloverProject team working on rescuing some nests. The disposal of food is great for the families but more restoration actions are needed.

My visit to Ceuta has come to an end. Very glad to be back on the #CeutaSnowyPloverProject, and worked with @medardonivosus' team during these three weeks. Hope to be back soon, but new things come ahead. Thanks to all of you.

We are facing some problems. Unusual tides and winds are pushing water into the salt flats, flooding nests of #Plovers. We are trying to rescue some of these nests. That is the reason for why are needed restoration actions in the site. #WetlandsConservation #ClimateAction

Today one of the eggs in a nest was found with a little crack, telling us than in a few hours it will be fully ready to be on the outside. Did you know they use their egg tooth  (the white speck at the tip of its bill) to break the shell?

The #Ceuta #plover field crew is doing a marvellous job. Over the last few days the wind pushed some much needed water into the abandoned salina, so there is hope for many of those freshly hatched chicks.

#CeutaSnowyPlover week8. We retrieved the first #GPS. This♀️was tagged on April 2022, we are excited to know where she spend time during winter! Breeding season 2023 is at midpoint and a good number of chicks (5 species) are running around the salt flat and wet areas.
