These plastic containers are then heated by the sun, releasing petrochemicals and microplastics into the water, which we then drink, cook with, and bathe in. The result is cancers, low sperm count, and other health complications. Additionally, our underground water in the cities is contaminated with biological contaminants (sewage), heavy metals and chemical pollutants, and because most don’t have filters to remove these pollutants, we are exposed to their negative effects on our health. Why are we as a nation not aware of the dangers? Because we don’t allow debate and divergent views to trigger scientific research, enquiry and progress. And of course, we have a parliament of people who focus on the wrong issues. The next time you visit people who are in the know, you will notice that they have stainless steel water reservoirs and filters. Ask yourself why. Our government needs to start investing in repiping and piping in our suburbs so that they can pipe water into our homes again.
