This is an affirmation that the people knows whom they voted. Leaders must constantly engage & meet the people on and off election season. It is imperative that elected representatives must give feedback to their constituencies. These ppl gathered in Masvingo Urban ystd

Abduction and touturing of young people just because they have a divergent view is abuse of principles that bind us as a people. When will this madness end??? @OMasaraure @EmmanuelSitima7

It's foolish and stupid for young people of Zimbabwe to fold hands and keep mum whilst ZANU-PF is pushing to butcher the Constitution of the land in broad daylight. NOTO2030NONSENSE

FINALLY ... SOME CLARITY ABOUT CCC AND THE OPPOSITION MOVEMENT. 🤌🏾 (*Substack link is in Bio, for a more pleasant reading experience.) ➡️ I happened to listen to fragments of an interesting twitter space on Friday. I was able to catch a little bit at the beginning and then come back and catch a little bit towards the end of the space. The guest was @pmkwananzi, and @molokele was also a speaker on the space. First of all, I would be remise if I didn’t give some credit where it is due. 🤷🏾‍♂️ I don’t really know that much about Promise Mkwananzi, apart from passively observing some his activism in student unions and with the ‘Tajamuka’ group, in the past... So, prior to his activity in CCC, he is someone I have only known to be somewhat involved, in some capacity, in the democratic struggle... And I was one of those that was shocked and disappointed at his appointment to Party Spokesperson. 👀 And thereafter, from time to time, in my self-appointed duties as a keyboard warrior (😉), I would post the occasional scathing tweet, whenever I felt he had dropped the ball. ⚽️👎🏾 But as flawed as I am, as a human, I also believe in fairness. And that if one has the privilege to criticize wrongdoing, one must balance that with praising GOOD things. 👍🏾 After having taken in a few of Mkwananzi’s interviews over the last couple of years, including the twitter space on Friday – I now get it. 🙋🏾‍♂️ I see now that the problem wasn’t that he was unfit to be spokesperson, the problem was rather that we just didn’t know him. The guy is actually a GREAT representative. ☑️ Promise is intelligent, eloquent and a deep thinker. He was especially impressive in his deliveries and responses on that Twitter space - and his passion for constitutionalism and a free Zimbabwe, shone through. 🙌🏾 Yes of course some listeners were left wanting to hear MORE about strategy and plans, but that will always be the case. And as they rightly should... And then of course, Honourable Molokele was as always - brilliant, honest and passionate. ☑️ Look, one of my greatest criticisms and frustrations about the modern authentic opposition, has been this issue of keeping supporters completely in the DARK. Yes, of course we don’t expect to know the deepest, most sensitive strategic secrets, but a situation where supporters know ZERO about what is going on - and are kept in constant frustration and confusion, is a MISTAKE. Completely unnecessary. 🤷🏾‍♂️ A MODERN democracy movement cannot function successfully on the outdated idea that in order to keep ZANU in the dark, you need to also keep your supporters in the dark! That is crazy!! Supporters are the lifeblood of a democratic movement and you cannot sustain a movement where the supporters depend on rumours and guesses, to be informed! 😒 We are in the social media age. If you are not constantly updating and setting the narrative, someone else will. 🤷🏾‍♂️ You open the door for DISINFORMATION to creep in, and destroy your unity from within! The only reason this “darkness” method has worked SO FAR for the authentic opposition, is that there is only ONE authentic opposition movement in Zimbabwe currently – that of Nelson Chamisa’s leadership... You enjoy a monopoly of authenticity, and people who genuinely want a better country have no choice but to support your movement. But that is not a way to operate a modern movement. 🙅🏾‍♂️ Taking supporters for granted and keeping them in the dark because they have NO CHOICE but to support you as the only genuine opposition movement?? That’s like that new business that opens up in town and they are the only ones that offer a certain product, and enjoy a monopoly. You can’t just do what you WANT to your customers and think that even though they are frustrated, they will ALWAYS shop at your store because there is nowhere else... 👀 No, NO - you need to nurture your customers and keep them HAPPY even though you have monopoly. That is a sound best practice in business. 👌🏾 Because sooner or later another store will open up that sells that same unique product, and those frustrated customers will leave in droves!! Same with an authentic opposition movement... Don’t take supporters for granted and keep them confused and in the dark constantly! 🙅🏾‍♂️ They may have no choice for NOW but to support you - but if another authentic movement starts to rise, rest assured those frustrated supporters will leave in droves and leave you holding air. 🌬️ Or they may just become disenchanted and apathetic with time and simply disengage from politics and move on with their lives. Look after your supporters better. Thank you for paying attention to this matter. 'Communications' is one of the most vital departments. ☑️ So anyway.... Yes, my point is that it was nice to get some long overdue clarity, from Mkwananzi and Molokele, however much of it there was. For those that did not listen to the space, here is a summary of some of the parts of interest that I heard: ◾️ 1. Mkwananzi gave a rundown of the current situation and painted an optimistic view for the authentic oppositions movements aims and strategies for the future and that a consultation process was currently taking place and a broad movement was in the process of being formed under the leadership of Advocate Chamisa. ◾️ 2. Listeners wanted clarity on which CCC members were still aligned with the leadership of President Chamisa and which were not. One listener, and apparent major donor, said he had spoken to Agency Gumbo seeking some clarity some months earlier, and Gumbo had promised to release a list of those MPs and Senators, etc. still aligned with the authentic movement - but had not done so to date. ◾️ 3. When asked by a listener, Promise stated that he does not know EXACTLY which MPs are aligned with the leadership of Advocate Chamisa and that it should be up to those MPs, Senators, Mayors, and Councillors to declare their support openly THEMSELVES so that they are known. (*I found this response to be unsatisfactory and evasive.) ◾️ 4. Mkwananzi spoke highly about his colleagues Chibaya and Ostallos when asked for clarifications regarding the two. He spoke glowingly about Chibaya’s dedication and hard work, and about Siziba’s leadership qualities. ◾️ 5. Mkwananzi clarified on the events that led to him becoming the party spokesperson. The underlying factors included that Mahere and Siziba were running for parliamentary seats and needed to focus more on their campaigns, while Promise was not running for a seat, so he was asked to take on the communications role as he could give it the focus it required. ◾️ 6. Overall, Mkwananzi answered all the questions that were presented and largely gave satisfactory answers and did not avoid questions, even from ZANU plants. He skillfully and eloquently navigated the session and DID provide some clarity and reassurance that there were solid processes and strategies at work behind the scenes. ◾️ 7. Honourable Molokelo clarified that there is currently a split of 3 groups in the elected opposition members. a) Welshman Ncube’s group b) Tshabangu’s group c) A group that is still aligned with the leadership of Nelson Chamisa and considers him their leader. ◾️ 8. Honourable Molokelo clarified that the group in parliament/senate etc., that is aligned to the leadership of Advocate Chamisa does not have a political party. They are NOT members of CCC (except perhaps on paper?). They are operating under a banner of ‘Citizens National Assembly’ under the current leadership of Jameson Timba. They are doing their work while in a holding pattern, waiting to transition into a new political movement, under the leadership of Nelson Chamisa. That new movement will not be a political party, but a broad based democratic movement. ◾️ 9. Honourable Molokelo clarified that President Nelson Chamisa at no point asked MPs to withdraw from parliament. Molokelo stated that he actually drafted a letter of resignation from parliament after President Chamisa left the party, and he had a conversation with Chamisa where he informed him that he was intending to resign from parliament - and President Chamisa told him NOT to do so, and that it was not his expectation for MPs to withdraw from parliament but that rather they can choose to maintain their zones of influence and wait until a new movement had been formed, before taking further action. (This was an interesting piece of information and emphasizes the need to keep supporters informed of the accurate facts. Many supporters have spent almost two years believing that ALL current MPs had refused to withdraw, after being asked to do so! A vacuum of information is destructive as it leaves space for rumours and disinformation to naturally flourish.) ◾️ 10. Honourable Molokelo shared his view that under current circumstances, elections in Zimbabwe are not the pathway to democratic change. He dismissed the fear that ZANU would just go ahead and conduct elections together with their puppet parties and without the authentic opposition. He said that such an inauthentic and sham election would hold no water and be worthlessly illegitimate - and ZANU doesn’t want that. He reminded listeners of the sham Muzorewa government that nobody recognized, and also that when Tsvangirai decided to boycott the 2008 election run-off, that led to IMMENSE pressure on ZANU to form a GNU. He reminded listeners that while ZANU dismisses SADC reports in public, the regional body still holds strategic influence over them. They care about what SADC announces. (SADC reports also put pressure on ZANU PF’s dwindling number of regional allies.) TAKE AWAY: Although not all the questions that listeners had were able to be answered (due to time), it was an interesting and informative session - so thank you to the authentic opposition for that. 👍🏾 And I encourage you to allow somebody to avail themselves on a REGULAR BASIS, once the new movement has been established. Constant communication is ESSENTIAL for building enthusiasm, support, volunteers and donations. It’s how any movement GROWS and gains power and momentum, like a hurricane. 🌪️ Don’t neglect this going forward. Keeping people in frustration and darkness serves nobody, and actually benefits the regime. A luta continua. 🇿🇼
