Friendly reminder Rob Thomson has only had three bad stretches in his entire career since becoming #Phillies manager. End of 2022 regular season (3-10 in late September) — Turned it around and made playoffs — won NLCS. Late May, early June 2023 (5-13 stretch) — Turned it around and made NLCS 8-13 start in 2025. How about we wait things out and see if they can turn it around? Someone whose team has won 57.3% of their games under this manager deserves that benefit of the doubt. Also, the Joe Girardi firing was different. Phillies were under .500 under Girardi.

@ShenkLarry Ok, but season’s young still, what can they do to turn it around? I think a creative lineup move or two and going on the road will do the trick. Try Turner at cleanup. Schwarber back to lead off. If he’s healthy, JT at 2. Push Garcia down to 7 or 8.

I just want Phillies fans who want Topper gone to be honest with themselves. You want a manager who will be as angry and irrational as you are after singular losses. You think that will equate to winning, but it wouldn't. It's not all of them, but a large majority for sure.

@GTN310 @JohnKincade Only thing I’d add is that none of us knows what he’s like in the clubhouse and my guess is that occasional blown gaskets by him are effective if they happen.

@Beardaknowledge The best baseball is played, the team wins when the key players are relaxed and locked in. They put enormous pressure on themselves, the phans do too. They need 1 player to fire them up internally, not sure who that is, would’ve been Hoskins, maybe even Castellanos.

@SteveKeeley73 @JohnStolnis Thanks for the response. It’s maddening that Thomson is not desperately creative at this point — the only move he/they can make to right the ship is a totally different lineup.

@shermaning @JohnStolnis They’ll never try it. The front office is too scared to mess with the “proven” lineup they spent half a billion on. They’d rather keep trotting out the same broken 1-through-9 and watch us lose 90 games than admit the core is cooked. Too logical — that’s why it’ll get ignored.

I mean, the Phillies lineup is just broken. Just totally broken. It needs a total overhaul. They need some really outside the box thinking.
