Homemade carrot-ginger soup, warm crusty bread, bourbon-allspice dram cocktail, and a good book. This is about as good as fall gets.

@DianeCurtis50 Imagine changing the alphabet and having your country's literacy rate go up. I have been wondering about it for years, especially when I think about the metric system. How on earth....?

As it turns out, I am not interested in Ataturk. I am interested in the Hat Law and the alphabet change he decreed. So I can just read those chapters of this book. A documentary helped me figure that out.

next song played, i realized shuffle was on, so i hit back, turned shuffle off, then hit forward. weird that shuffle didn't affect the back button! back and forward ← → look so symmetrical. but it's like how subtraction can be meaningful in spaces where addition isn't

I am struggling for the second time to read a dense biography of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. Might need to admit that Wikipedia and documentaries are more my speed here.

I moralized about the joy of revenge, the dangerous luxury of hate and malice, and how, even when malice and venom are 'richly deserved', the indulgence of these emotions can, alas, be ruinous.

20 years ago I parked in this spot every day, and felt a moment of joy walking to and from my car. In 4 months, I will park here again. A small, good thing.
