BREAKING NEWS!!! Due to the kindness and compassion from several members of #Umasstwitter I am happy to say that I will be attending my first UMass game on September 26th as UMass takes on Sac State! Flights have been purchased, just working on finding a cheap hotel lol. But we are locked in and going! Thank you to all helped me out. I am eternally grateful to you all and I will do my best to continue to pay it forward when I’m able to. Go UMass! My dream is coming true! If anyone is going to be at the game and wants to meet up I’d love to meet my UMass family! Feel free to reach out and dm if you want!

Hey guys. I’ve been a fan of @UMassFootball since 2012 when they moved up to the FBS level, I have quite a strange story of how I became a fan. I played video games growing up and one of those happened to be NCAA 12, which happened to have UMass in it, they were one of a couple new teams to the FBS level, the others were UTSA and Texas State. I wanted to rebuild one of those schools cause they were the worst in the game. I chose UMass because of their jerseys and name, along with the fact that my grandpa was from Massachusetts and I’m a patriots fan because of that. In my time as a UMass fan I’ve had some low lows, like the Vanderbilt missed kick, losses to FCS teams, winless seasons, and more. I’ve had some high highs too, like the win at BYU, the overtime win against App State, almost beating Tennessee at Tennessee and having some cool interactions with players like @rodgers_isaiah and past head coaches. All that being said I’ve never gone to a game because I live in Washington state and it’s tough to fly across the country or at least most of the way. Flights are expensive and so is everything else lol. But this year UMass plays at Sacramento State and I’m trying to go. I want to experience and see UMass live and in person no matter what has happened in the past, I still love this team. I’ve made great memories as a fan watching the games on tv, talking about the team and specific players with my family and friends and defending my fandom no matter what. I’ve had so many great interactions with #umasstwitter , making friends like @CurryHicksSage , the great people over at @TheCursiveU and @UmassReindeer who I was so lucky to do a podcast @FansUMassNeed about UMass football with him during our toughest year ever. I’ve been blessed to meet these people over twitter. I try to pay it forward, Every year I’ve donated what I could to the football team and in the past I’ve even bought home game tickets for UMass games with the plan to give them away to people for free so they could go to a game and I did. Being a fan of this team has been so fulfilling and fun. But it’s been rough at times too. And so has life, unfortunately life has been a bit rough for my family and I, which is why I’m making this post. I have a wife and a 2 year old and we’re pregnant with our second child. I’ve gone through some health issues this year dealing with illnesses that had kept me out of work for long periods of time. Luckily I’ve recovered and am feeling a lot better, the best I have in about a year. However that long period of time from work has left our funds pretty tight. I hate asking for anything but it’s a dream of mine to see this team in person. I’m asking for donations to help fund this trip, plane ticket and a short hotel stay. I’d only be staying a Friday to Sunday and then returning home to keep the trip as cheap as possible. No one has to help but if anyone does I’d be eternally grateful for the help and opportunity. If you’re able to help I have a cash app, Venmo and PayPal linked in the comments. Thanks to everyone for at least reading this and taking time out of your day. Go UMass!
