Recent warming since 2000 has been caused by cloud reduction. Not caused by CO2 increase and not caused by positive water vapor feedback. When you have a reduction in cloud cover, more solar energy gets absorbed by the surface. In this case, since 2000, the surface is absorbing (+2W/m²). This causes the surface to heat up (+0.6°C), the mid troposphere to heat up (+0.5°C), the surface emits more (+3.3 W/m²), the sky emits more back to the surface (+ 1.3 W/m²) and the sky emits more back to space (+1.3 W/m²).
The surface emits more directly to space (+ 0.7W/m²)
Simplifying assumptions: no water and no clouds.

2. Since 2000 cloud cover has reduced which has caused a reduction in the suns thermal radiation reflecting back out to space. This is known as outgoing shortwave measured by Clouds and the Earth’s Radiant Energy System (CERES). I'm using Figure 6 from Judith Curry's paper.
