Absolutely stoked to finally share that I have been selected as a 2023 Schmidt Science Fellow! Excited to be one of 32 Fellows selected this year and honoured to become a part of the fantastic community of @SchmidtFellows doing ground-breaking interdisciplinary science.

I'm in SF/Bay for 2 days with my @PopVaxIndia colleague @dmmehta1990, who previously worked on automating high-throughput experiments at Ginkgo Bio. Would love to meet bio folks as well as robotics folks interested in applying VLAs & world models to wet lab biology -- reply/DM.

As the world races to develop medicines with AI, India takes up to 2 years to approve a clinical trial. The US takes 30 days. China often needs no approval at all. In the Indian Express, @TakshashilaInst’s @anupammanur & I propose decentralizing approvals to accelerate trials. 🧵

His writing is genuinely one of the reasons I moved back to India to build something new - more on that soon. This manifesto signals a new era of vaccine acceleration originating in India. It may be long but well-worth your read! chronicles.popvax.com/p/vacc-popvaxs…

I marvel everyday at @PopVaxIndia - frontier vaccines and therapeutics out of a quiet, unassuming corner of Hyderabad. @sohamsankaran writes channeling the conviction and ambition he pours into building PopVax.
Soham Sankaran@sohamsankaran

Four years ago, I started @PopVaxIndia with no real knowledge of biology and <$50k in personal funding, convinced that the combination of generative AI for design & RNA for delivery would unlock a new class of vaccines & therapeutics against diseases resistant to legacy methods.

Women: if you're fatigued, make sure your ferritin is checked too. Iron deficiency without anemia is even more common than iron-deficiency anemia, and symptoms can occur even when hemoglobin is normal. Many cases get missed when testing stops at Hb.

Testing iron studies in women might be the lowest-hanging fruit in medicine. It's shockingly common, and fixing it usually makes them feel like a completely different person.

Can anyone introduce me to clinicians who are treating long COVID, or people who have recovered from it? I've been dealing with difficult Long COVID symptoms for 3 months now, and have had to go on medical leave from work. Any help would be amazing :)

Here's why good science communication matters! We desperately need to understand the true health impacts of micro- and nanoplastics (reproductive toxicity⁉️) but poorly controlled studies risk fueling hype more than insight. Rigor>>>sensationalism

biological plausibility discussions (are MNPs the source of a leaky epithelial barrier in diseased tissue, or do we find MNPs in such diseased tissue samples DUE TO the leaky barrier?) and a personal favorite- encouragement to publish negative/null findings!

Came across this stellar review on the health impacts of micro- and nanoplastics (MNPs), and was transported to a conversation with @AbhirathB on the study that found microplastics in decedent human brain. 🧵 #peer-review" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">nature.com/articles/s4159…
