I know many people miss the sound of Richie’s voice on commentary. He’s probably still widely regarded as the best tv cricket commentator. But, if Richie remains at #1, who would you put at #2? I’m genuinely interested to see who people pick. Radio commentators need not apply!

If we’re being honest, that situation says a lot about how people make quiet decisions based on perception. You were willing to help, but before you could even say a word, someone else was already chosen as the more suitable option. It might look small, but moments like that reflect a bigger issue people are often judged and filtered based on how they look, what they represent, or what others assume about them, not their actual intention. You didn’t even get the chance to show your willingness before a decision was made for you. And the ironic part is, if you had insisted on helping, it could easily have been misinterpreted in a negative way. So you’re left in a position where doing good can still be questioned, while others are automatically trusted. It’s subtle, but it shows how bias works in everyday situations. x.com/i/status/20341…

Last year on a flight, I sat next to a woman holding a baby. Instantly, I was so excited at the prospect of helping with this baby. Before I could even introduce myself, the flight attendant walks over and says to me "Miss, can I talk to you the back of the plane, please?" 'Am I in trouble?!' are the words that come out of my mouth "No, you're not in trouble, I'd just like to chat with you at the back of the plane" the flight attendant replies, very nicely. 'Can you just tell me here?? ...

@atensnut Triple jump. Nothing can beat Bob Beamon’s world record long jump in 1968. He beat the old record by almost 2’. Think about that. It stood, may still stand (Olympic),for 23 years. American exceptionalism at its finest. God bless Bob Beamon. He inspired me.

When Trump leaves office: The Department of War will go back to being the Defense Department. The Trump Kennedy Center will go back to being the Kennedy Center. The Gulf of America will once again be the Gulf of Mexico. The unfinished East Wing (it won't be finished by the end of Trump's term) will be rebuilt by the next president, and it will not be a ballroom. Federal agencies packed with unqualified loyalists will fire those people and rehire the career experts Trump fired. The Department of Justice will go back to enforcing the law instead of protecting the president. Scientific agencies like NOAA, the EPA, and the CDC will go back to publishing research without political interference. The U.S. will re-align with its allies and not with its enemies. The presidential pardon power will stop being used as a rewards program for loyalists. Inspectors General will go back to investigating corruption instead of getting fired for it. The White House press room will go back to having briefings, with real journalists and not podcasters. U.S. foreign policy will stop revolving around flattering dictators. And the world will progress as though Donald Trump never existed.

So if Reeves’s claim that Brexit cost us 8% of GDP is correct it would mean we’d have grown four times more than Japan/Germany and almost twice France/Italy. Up there with Canada/US. If you believe that I have a bridge to sell you. In reality, even with Brexit, we were fastest growing European economy in G7. Just a tad more than France (with no Frexit).

Donald Trump was overwhelmingly elected by the American people to be our President and Commander in Chief. As our Commander in Chief, he is responsible for determining what is and is not an imminent threat, and whether or not to take action he deems necessary to protect the safety and security of our troops, the American people and our country.  The Office of the Director of National Intelligence is responsible for helping coordinate and integrate all intelligence to provide the President and Commander in Chief with the best information available to inform his decisions.  After carefully reviewing all the information before him, President Trump concluded that the terrorist Islamist regime in Iran posed an imminent threat and he took action based on that conclusion.

It is the contempt for their own people shown by European leaders that is so breathtaking. They know that we know it is Iran which was illegally attacked - but they believe it does not matter what the people know or think.
Emmanuel Macron@EmmanuelMacron

I have just spoken with Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian. I called on him to put an immediate end to the unacceptable attacks Iran is carrying out against countries in the region, whether directly or through proxies, including in Lebanon and Iraq. I reminded him that France is acting within a strictly defensive framework aimed at protecting its interests, its regional partners, and freedom of navigation, and that it is unacceptable for our country to be targeted. The unchecked escalation we are witnessing is plunging the entire region into chaos, with major consequences today and for the years to come. The people of Iran, like those across the region, are paying the price. Only a new political and security framework can ensure peace and security for all. Such a framework must guarantee that Iran never acquires nuclear weapons, while also addressing the threats posed by its ballistic missile programme and its destabilising activities regionally and internationally. Freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz must be restored as soon as possible. I also urged the Iranian President to allow Cécile Kohler and Jacques Paris to return safely to France as soon as possible. Their ordeal has gone on for far too long, and they belong with their loved ones.

Europe's official grid authority has released its report on the nationwide blackout that hit Spain last year. And while the report treads carefully politically, its data make the cause clear. Wind and solar triggered the collapse. Within the first 80 seconds, Spain lost 2.5 GW of generation, around 10% of its national supply, with every MW of that early loss coming from renewables. Gas and hydro remained stable until the cascade was already underway. The report calls it an unprecedented speed of blackout. This was a textbook inverter chain failure, with renewables dropping so fast that the grid's stabilizers never had time to react. By midday, Spain's grid had virtually no inertia, nothing spinning fast enough to hold frequency steady. But to admit that outright would mean questioning Europe's green transition itself, something the report appears unable to do. So the event is officially described as "a rare local disturbance," rather than what it actually was... A systemic failure of weather-dependent power.
