I think our podcast conversation is being interpreted very differently from what we actually meant, so I just want to clarify our side once. And honestly, I can understand why a short clip may have made it sound that way too. First of all, production houses absolutely do not “owe” creators anything. Nobody is entitled to invites, money, hotel stays, or special treatment. These collaborations are optional from both sides, and every creator has the right to say yes or no depending on what works for them professionally. In our podcast, we were answering a very specific question people kept asking us: “Why didn’t you guys go for the set visit even when travel was being arranged?” So we explained our reasoning honestly. The arrangement was basically: come to Mumbai, shoot content/interviews, and fly back the same day. There was no stay arrangement because from their perspective it was a same-day work schedule. That may work perfectly fine for many creators, and there is nothing wrong with that. But for us personally, after years of doing these trips, we no longer find that format practical or valuable enough for the amount of exhaustion and workflow disruption it causes. Over the years, ScoopCast has travelled multiple times for interviews and promotional events, often without payment or comfortable arrangements, simply because we genuinely loved these worlds and were excited to be part of the experience. We happily did it, so this is not coming from bitterness. But with experience, we also learned something important: most of these events are PR-driven promotional activities. Which is completely understandable, because studios are trying to market their projects. Naturally, the environment is built around positive promotion and controlled conversations. Tough or deeply uncomfortable discussions are usually not the focus there, because that’s simply not the purpose of those events. For us personally, after doing this repeatedly, we realized that these trips often gave us more exhaustion than actual long-term channel value. That realization is not “whining.” It is simply understanding the practical side of creator work more clearly with time. And honestly, the line about “create something so significant that you are not dependent on favours” is actually something we agree with. That is exactly why we are becoming more selective now. We would rather focus our energy on building our own content ecosystem, audience connection, and independent discussions instead of chasing every access opportunity available. So respectfully, our conversation was never: “Studios owe us better treatment.” It was simply: “These promotional trips no longer feel professionally worthwhile for us personally.” 🤝
