@shivbite I watched HBO TLOU s2 as someone who's never played the game with someone who has and we both came to the same conclusion that it was very disappointing lol (we both loved s1)

not really. tlou2 got hate mostly because people couldn’t handle the storyline especially joel’s death. but people who hate the show are often fans of the game who think it’s a dogshit adaptation. two totally different things.

@shivbite Absolutely. I enjoyed season 1 because it made changes that didn't break the story and still managed to give nice depth to the characters. I haven't seen season 2, but I'm sorry to hear the way it was handled didn't adapt as strongly. Maybe season 3 will help address concerns?

@KoolKeith9000 you get it 😭 i love the game but i can totally see why it wouldn’t work for everyone and the show just makes it worse. like you said, ellie feels so inconsistent and it ends up making the whole story feel messy tbh

@shivbite I had my issues with the game's story, but somehow, the show made it 10x worse. At least Ellie was a consistent character in it. HBO Ellie not only was different from game Ellie, but she was different from SEASON 1 Ellie lol

@gabedoesvp I’d go as far to say I don’t think you can truly love TLOU2 as a game and love that season at the same time, they’re not engaging with you as a viewer or player on the same emotional wave lengths. The show is completely neutered because Craig couldn’t handle TLOU2 himself

@snowberey i wanted to mention it too but it would’ve been too long 😭 that’s kinda what i mean though, a lot of tlou2 hate came from… not great reasons, while the criticism toward the show is mostly from fans who don’t like how it’s being adapted. it’s not the same kind of hate

@shivbite I'm not necessarily saying I agree with op BUT people also hated Ellie's character and people hated Abby so much they were extremely transphobic towards her design (even before release cause of leaks I fully thought she was trans). It was not just a Joel died issue

@Relihist oh yeah i know, and i’m not against people who genuinely criticize the story. it was a really bold choice so it makes sense it didn’t work for everyone. i just think there’s a difference between disliking the story itself and criticizing the show for how it’s adapting that story.

@shivbite There were certainly ppl who couldn't get over Joel's death, but there are genuine criticisms of how it was handled, as well as the story as a whole. I wish the conversations surrounding TLOU2 were better handled so people didn't obsess with the extremes on either side.

@shivbite I get that, especially if the changes didn’t land for you. But the story’s not finished yet some of the biggest payoffs come later, so it might hit differently by the end.
That said, if it already lost you, that’s fair too just don’t be a dick about it.
