@atomicobject Hi! I just moved to GR, and think (?) many years ago you hosted meetups. I'm guessing with COVID that is not happening, but I'm wondering if that will come back, if you plan to host community events ever, etc. I'm in Eastown and would love it.
Hi! If you've pre-ordered a Playdate, check your email for a copy of the "Playdate Owner's Update #1".
There's bad news (a battery tragedy means Late 2021 units are now Early 2022, see email for your timing) but also good news (Pulp+SDK release dates!!)
Thanks for reading it.
@Delta is your credit card processing system down? I've been unable to book a flight for the past ~1.5 hourish, and my wife is having issues using her credit to book a different flight. She's on hold for over an hour :(
@shoelessone We understand your wife's response to this situation. And again, we are so sorry for what occurred. We are going to pass this forward to see why train with car 1615 was operated in this manner, despite the equipment issue experienced in area.
@SFBART my wife was stuck on a train for from around 3:05 to 3:50 today, from Daly City. She could not get off, and nobody said anything to announce what was wrong. She pressed call button and no answer. What is up with this?
@SFBART Train 1615x. They just started moving, but she is shaking and people in the train with her were freaking out. ZERO communication as to why they could not leave, and moved backwards and waited for 40 minutes. Thanks for your reply.
@shoelessone Hi, we are terribly sorry to hear this. We understand there has been equipment issues on some trains in the past hour, but we've received no trains which were stuck. Does she have a train car number, or general info on her train? We can flag for response. Sorry once again.
@OaklandFireCA In the future, what steps should be taken when the alarm goes off? I had absolutely no idea if I should be hiding under my desk or if this was a test, or more importantly where I should look for answers. Thanks for your work!
Listen Up: There was an operational error and the Oakland Emergency Warning Siren that is tested on the first Wednesday of the month at 12PM went off today (Tuesday). We apologize for any confusion this may have caused. oaklandca.gov/services/fire-…
@baseballot sorry if this is a stupid question, but it sounds like some of the remaining ballots to be counted in the close races are from overseas military - aren't those more likely to go Trump? Very possible I have false pretense here, but it seems like that could be a factor?
@searls I have so many great memories of that song. The inputs to our experiences are pretty similar (comparing the general population, I'd say 99.999%), but not speaking Japanese added another dimension. Overall, we miss the garbage system.
You might think garbage is a soul-crushing and joyless part of life in Japan, but it's really not! Once you get into the swing of things, it isn't *that* bad.
And yes, I only feel that way because the little song the garbage trucks play will be etched into my memory until I die.
One thing I've been meaning to share about our year in Japan and one of the most fascinating aspects of its bureaucracy: garbage collection.
No, really! Garbage sorting is a massive part of daily life in Japan, and for numerous cultural, practical, and political reasons. Thread:
