Given the nature of bond (and I appreciate that a defendant need only 10% of the amount in order for a bonding company to put up the balance)...
$1.25 MILLION bond for Chud the Builder seems excessive.
Plenty of ways to ensure he appears for trial, and set appropriate conditions for his release that would be more proportionate than $1.25 million bond.
