If I were in charge one of the first things I would do is add energy and food and rent to the inflation report - next I would add discouraged workers to the unemployment rate - show these people the real numbers - how large the problem actually is - instead of feeding them lies

It's not about whether something may or may not have value, it's about what the mortgage provider is willing to accept as collateral, and they aren't accepting baseball cards. Hell, you have to jump through hoops just to get gold accepted as collateral, and that's only by some lenders because most won't accept it.
