@MnshaP Why would you not remove abseentees and shifted voters and only consider Dead voters? This logic makes no sense.
English

First up, net deletions, as used in our analysis, cover *everyone removed from the rolls for reasons other than death*. Important to note that even though 27 lakh voters finally went to court, there is no way of knowing if the final number of deleted voters is restricted to that figure. Many may not have had the resources to even reach the tribunals.

English

*4 tests, 1 question: Did SIR shape Bengal outcome?*
We carried out four tests — each stricter than the last — to find exactly where the relationship between SIR deletions and election results holds, and where it breaks down.

@ThePrintIndia In this analysis, did you consider only 27lakh SIR exclusions under Logical Discrepancy or the ASSD deletions as well?
English

@chhuti_is @ujaanghosh If ASDD deletion was fair and not controversial, why would you include that in your analysis? It seems you included this only to paint a wrong picture.
English

@ujaanghosh ASDD deletion was largely fair. WB electoral roll was bloated. The red flag is the UA deletion. And if you look at the simulation model at the end you would see why the final outcome might have been the same, but with fewer seats for BJP.
English

@thewire_in @chhuti_is Combining ASSD And UA is irresponsible journalism. There is no debate around the ASSD deletions which happened in many states and is a part of regular electoral roll cleanup. Do a better job and share this analysis with just UA deletions.
English

Data Shows SIR Helped BJP Win Bengal
In 150 seats, more than half of West Bengal’s 294, total deletions were greater than victory margins, and BJP won 99. In 2021, it had won just 19 of these.

@CBSSportsGolazo @ChristinaUnkel A big game was decided on a similar non sensical decision. Julian Alvarez’s tiny double touch when hitting the penalty. The law was followed there, it should have happened today as well.

The handball debate split opinions between the #UCLToday crew so we had to call in @ChristinaUnkel 🔥✋

@carolynhparrish I would love to display the flag at my home but I don’t live in Mississauga. I wish you would also accept a proof of address outside Mississauga.

@Phunsukwangduji I didn’t understand this scene. Why will Israelis need nuclear technology? They already have nuclear bombs and the world knows it.

@elonmusk I see the same video on my feed at least 10 times from different accounts. Can you do something so that the same video is not shown again?

VIDEO | Delhi: Cyber fraudsters duped an NRI elderly couple of Rs 14.85 crore in a “digital arrest” scam. The victims said they were trapped through a series of fake calls and video interactions by people posing as telecom officials and police officers, who accused them of money laundering and threatened arrest.
Indira Taneja, the victim, says, “On December 24, around noon, I received a call from someone claiming to be from TRAI, saying my number would be disconnected due to obscene calls and complaints. They accused me of money laundering, claimed an FIR and arrest warrants had been issued in Maharashtra, and then connected me to a man in a police uniform on a video call. He said a Canara Bank account in my name was used in a major fraud linked to national security. Even after I told them my husband was recovering from surgery at AIIMS and we had no one to help us, they kept pressuring us, and we ended up losing Rs 14.85 crore.”

Hansi Flick has saved this club in more ways than words can explain.
Easily the most influential manager we’ve had since Pep. Don’t know where we’d be without him, but it wouldn’t be pretty.

🚨 Raphinha: “I always say that Hansi Flick was the person who changed everything. I was about to leave the club and he told me he wanted to count on me and that I would be important. It's what a player and a person needs, trust” 🫂

@halleyji The protection is not just for 100meter hills but hills surrounding it as well and all hills 500 meter to each side of a combination of two 100 meter hills. Further anything in Delhi is protected, the 8.7% estimate needs to reflect all of this, not just the number of 100mtr hills
English

Good article on legal aspects of 'Redefining the Aravalli hills' issue.
"According to the Forest Survey of India, applying the new definition would result in only around 8.7% of the mapped Aravalli landforms being eligible for protection, leaving a substantial portion unregulated"
Unfortunately this is a very difficult problem to tackle. The news on Aravallis is very concerning. But it looks like the silent consensus is that we need to mine the hills and open it up for commercial activity if our GDP has to increase, Per capita income has to increase and we have to become prosperous.
Anyone who contests such an endeavour becomes anti-development anti-national anti-progress so on.
We are stuck hence!
Reminds me of the famous Gandhi quote:
"God forbid that India should ever take to industrialism after the manner of the West. The economic imperialism of a single tiny island kingdom (England) is today keeping the world in chains. If an entire nation of 300 million took to similar economic exploitation, it would strip the world bare like locusts."
This development model itself feels sinister to me. Insane hunger for resources all the time.
May be we should collaborate fast with Musk or hope for a desi Musk so that we mine Moon and Mars instead of Aravallis? Or Colonise some other country instead of our own? Classic NIMBY - Not In My BackYard!
What else can we do?
We are all participants in this economic model that needs constant growth and has a constant craving for more and more resources. We are told the only way to escape poverty is to double down on this economic model and we are already behind because of several lost decades (and perhaps centuries!).
To provide livelihood security for all and to ensure constantly increasing standards of living and quality of living this is all needed!
So be it?
May be one day we will have a way to do cost benefit analysis for all this?
