Showing the 'true' cost of golf for Joe Bloggs, in Ireland. In love with the game.

@Luke_Elvy @livgolf_league Submitted for your approval: cut down to 8 events 90% of (reduced purse) to team 10% of (reduced purse) to individual 54 holes Optimize and right-size while PGAT struggles to remain “big”. For ‘28: Create their own team-based open.

An investment idea for @livgolf_league - have all the captains pool their massive sign on bonuses from PIF into a consortium & buy the league. It would have to be around $1bn & they can back the concept they committed so strongly to. Would be akin to SSG’s investment into PGAT.

It’s the same everywhere in Golf. PGAT is burning through a $1.5Bn every year, and burnt through another $1.5Bn on their Player Equity Program. they survive solely on the model of TV money. It’s no different in reality, if they don’t get a big deal in the media rights renewal, then expect more cuts to tournaments, staff etc. Regardless of what happens this and next year golf needs a hard reset.

With PIF divesting, the next 8-9 months are going to be fascinating to follow. How many 2027 events? Format? Which players are committed to the cause or just 💰? Most were already playing DPWT & AT. But which players abandon ship & beg to go back to the PGAT? I hope NO ONE goes back + they stay committed to global golf.

Based on recent conversations I’ve had, the next 6 weeks might be the most pivotal in @livgolf_league history since the initial launch. We shall see where this nets out. 🤷🏽‍♂️

@flushingitgolf What's your take on the future for LIV? Is it realistic for it to carry on without funding from PIF? The public message will be that it is, but realistically it's been propped up by them. If it is the end, what happens to the players?

LIV Golf captains have been officially told that the Saudi Arabia PIF is pulling funding at the end of the season and Yasir Al-Rumayyan is stepping down as Chairman. New board members will be announced today.

Nothing says “meritocracy” more than being handpicked by your brother to team up & elevate your @PGATOUR status that way. I mean it wasn’t long ago people were questioning the legitimacy of #LIVGolf for this very same reason. 🤷🏽‍♂️ IDC but be consistent.

Life is already pretty good for the Fitzpatrick family. Things could get even better this afternoon. Matt and Alex Fitzpatrick lead the Zurich Classic by four. For Alex, a win could change everything: ▪️Full PGA Tour status through 2028 ▪️Spot in the remaining 2026 Signature Events ▪️PGA Championship berth next month

There were less than 100 personnel in town during the Falklands invasion. Now there is around 1,000 personnel at a dedicated airbase, with several infantry companies, support units, a Typhoon detachment, Sky Sabre fire group, offshore patrol vessel etc. Backed up by 700,000 sheep and 1 million penguins.
𝐍𝐢𝐨𝐡 𝐁𝐞𝐫𝐠 🇮🇷 ✡︎@NiohBerg

Britain could lose the Falklands because of weak leadership. It's not the 80s anymore, there's no Thatcher in charge and the UK is a depressing shell of its former self. If Argentina simply walks in and takes over, possibly soon with Trump's approval, what exactly will Keir Starmer do? Send an angry worded letter? Would he even care at all?

@WarMonitor3 This literally happened because they saw the UK can no longer field a fleet. You have no ability to project power.

I doubt it. The UK just showed it lacks the ability to project power, even as close to home as Akrotiri. And @Keir_Starmer is no Maggy Thatcher. Remember, the UK lost two destroyers and two frigates last time (along with two logistics/auxiliary ships). The same losses today would take out a third of the UK’s escort fleet.

@WarMonitor3 Britain cannot do it again. You have no long-range bombers and only 14 refueling aircraft plus your navy cannot get out of port. You better get your 💩together or you are going to lose them. You have FOUR airplanes defending plus one patrol boat. Oh, and one company of infantry.

@FlyerLincoln @TBrit90 You assume they can get a vessel capable enough and close enough to shell the airfield. Didn't go too well for the Belgrano did it? And Argentina's navy today isn't even a shadow of what it was then. They field nothing bigger than a frigate and both their submarines are inactive

UK golf pricing has gone insane! How long can this go on? When the USA has a real recession, it will have a profound effect on these clubs. I’m not sure golf courses, USA or Uk, are prepared for the bad times that eventually will happen. After a boom, comes a bust.
UK Golf Guy@ukgolfguy

Here’s my annual look at UK summer green fee increases - Average top 100 green fees are ⬆️11.4% - over 3X the rate of inflation - The average top 25 course is now £407 (up 15% on 2025) Here's a thread with some thoughts. You can read it all on my blog too. 🧵1/12

@BigMattSays @dermot_harrigan @BelTel If you think that a project of that size was conceived and delivered within a 5/10 year timeframe it shows your complete lack of understanding of operating organisations of that scale. Yes UU took on significant debt. It doesn't change my original point.

@BigMattSays @BelTel No. UU (and QUB) operate at a competitive disadvantage compared to other Universities around the UK. Student fees are lower in NI (NI assembly decision) and student intake is also capped (NI assembly decision). If those two things changed UU would not be in this position.

Garrett is on the money here. UU is struggling cause it decided to pour all its resources into an unneeded belfast white elephant campus of which there was no need for and its ordinary staff and magee which have to suffer because of belfast greed and vanity. UU heads need sacked
Garrett Hargan@GAHargan

UU wants to blame the lack of funding from Stormont. The truth is UU is struggling with finances as it built a mammoth £370m campus in Belfast. A choice! Jordanstown could have been refurbished/expanded, inside sources say. Now UU has to pay back annual loans of £6.3m.
