Simply put: The only possible way that Sonny Styles can be worth Pick 5 is if he’s literally Fred Warner.
The odds of that happening, regardless of how good you think he is as an off-ball linebacker prospect, are improbable.

Reasons why drafting Sonny Styles at Pick 5 is a terrible idea for the New York Giants: - He’ll already be making huge money for an off-ball linebacker right off the bat, so you essentially don’t get to have him on a rookie contract discount. He’d be making $11.5M a year. - You essentially don’t get a 5th-year option or franchise tags because the salary for off-ball linebackers on the 5th-year option and franchise tags is the same as it is for edge rushers. Way too expensive to even consider. - This is one of the best off-ball linebacker draft classes we’ve ever seen. - It’s incredibly easy to find high-end off-ball linebackers in free agency and all throughout most drafts when compared to other positions. - Even if Styles is elite, there’s almost no chance that he’ll be the 5th-best player in this class because the value that an off-ball linebacker can provide is extremely limited. - It’s easier than ever to get high-end off-ball linebackers in free agency. We just saw 2 absolutely elite ones, Devin Lloyd and Devin Bush, not only hit free agency but get only $15M per year and $10M per year, respectively. Lloyd and Bush are like 90th percentile outcomes for Styles. It just logically makes no sense, unless maybe you plan to play him in more of a Kyle Hamilton role than an off-ball linebacker role?

@Acarthios @FREETHEHORNETS Well I would have given Eli his full 4/5 years, just like I’ll give dart. Just not convinced yet of his passing ability, imo his only elite traits so far are scrambling/maneuvering and rushing. Needs to be better standing and firing off a basic drop back within rhythm
