Yesterday in Ibadan I had an encounter with someone that made me realise that we have not spoken about the travails we face enough! He was shocked that I was not surprised about how the OAU, Ife event Peter Obi @PeterObi was supposed to attend turned out! I told him it is a normal thing we face. I went on to ask him why does he think Peter Obi usually visits private Nursing schools or those run by missionaries? He didn’t know. I told him because the ones run by government would not allow him to visit or the officials take anything from him. While people were making assumptions that he was being biased in favouring some sections of the country, it was really because they were the ones that will welcome him. I told him about Chibok community. They reached out to me about the Chibok school from which 276 #ChibokGirls were abducted from in 2014 did not have computers. As soon as I told Mr Peter Obi he told me to make arrangement with the school that we will visit Chibok donate computers and printers (which they had not even asked for) and access other needs that they have and take care of them. First we were denied from going. Then Mr Peter Obi suggested we visit the capital and give them or any neighboring state, that was also turned down. The next was bringing the principal and some teachers with students to Abuja. They were not allowed to come. At the end Mr Peter Obi met with some members of the chibok community in Abuja and handed over the computers and printers to them with monetary assistance which he gave. @salakwa1 can provide more details sef! Most of the charity is with coconut head! They have been doing everything to truncate it!

A lady’s car broke down at Bolade Bus Stop, opposite Arena Market, around 10pm. She was surrounded by touts and street urchins. I was driving out of GRA when I noticed the situation. I parked and asked what was wrong. She had already paid one group about ₦10,000, but another set came, threatening to deflate her tyres and seize her phone. I spoke to them in street language, trying to calm things down, but they insisted on ₦100,000. I called a friend in the Army at Maryland Barracks. Though he wasn’t around, he sent someone who arrived in less than five minutes, with a mechanic. The car was fixed quickly, and she didn’t pay a dime. She’s married, but her husband lives in Germany, and she only visits occasionally due to work. Since that night, we’ve stayed in touch. Over time, we became close, she shares work issues, relationship matters, and often seeks my advice. Years later, there was an opening in her company’s finance department. I referred a friend of mine, a newly married man with a child who lost his job after COVID-19. Out of over 100 applicants, he got the job. He later relocated to the UK with his family in 2021. Before returning to Nigeria, he asked me to help find a house. I found one in Abule Egba that needed minor renovation for ₦70M. He sent the money, and I added ₦5M to pay for my inconveniences. While he was still in the UK, he shipped his car Lexus RX350 2023 and a Toyota Corrolla 2012 to my place, where it stayed for over 8 months before his arrival. While I went to pick him up at the Airport, he asked if I was already driving the Corrolla, I told him No since I have my own car, he said, that was for you. His words to me were: “Seun, I have a family, but I feel safer and more comfortable with you than even my own blood relatives so there is nothing I have done and would do for you that is denser to the impact you've made in my life and family. My good deeds are no longer preserve in heaven, I’m now reaping them on earth. Kindness, integrity, and showing up for people in difficult moments open doors money cannot buy. The value you give consistently will always return, through unexpected opportunities and lifelong trust.

As a Nigerian American, seeing from my side of the world… In Nigeria, we bury our dead with songs that rattle the earth. Loud, messy, unbreakable. Your neighbor’s child is your child. No one starves alone. Time bends for laughter under the harmattan sun. Resilience isn’t a slogan; it’s blood. Here in America, I watch spotless homes where doors stay locked, dinners are silent, and hearts scroll past each other’s pain. Independence is god. Hustle is holy. But some nights the silence feels heavier than any Lagos traffic. Two worlds. One heart split down the middle. Yet the ache cuts deepest when I look home: a land bursting with genius, oil, laughter, and unbreakable spirit… held back by leaders who steal the future while the people bleed. They loot the promise our mothers prayed over. They turn potential into poverty and call it “normal.” That’s why we must FIGHT with everything we got, unrelenting voices, votes, protests, and truth that shakes palaces. Demand leaders who serve the village spirit instead of burying it. Nigeria doesn’t need more pity. It needs its own people to rise and say: ENOUGH. Our culture, our resilience, our children deserve better than this betrayal. America showed me what opportunity can build. Nigeria taught me what unbreakable hearts can endure. Together, they prove we don’t have to choose. We can DEMAND both worlds get it right. To every Nigerian at home grinding in the dark, and every diaspora child feeling this tear: the fight starts with us refusing to stay quiet. This is our moment. The bridge between two worlds gives us eyes to see clearly and voices loud enough to echo across oceans. Let the pain of the split fuel the fire. Nigeria can rise. America can learn. But only if we stop waiting and start roaring together. ❤️🇳🇬🇺🇸 Just a quick reminder NIGERIA MUST BE OK. PO is coming ✌🏾

When you’ve been poor and then rich, you can sometimes give good advice freely, but most of your advice would be wrong, as it discounts luck. When you have been rich and then poor, then rich again, you will learn not to give advice freely until you’ve listened to people carefully. It is very easy to listen to the rich man talk and believe that if you follow their path, you will likely become rich. The truth is that the path to wealth for everyone is unique and depends on how well they use their advantages. This morning I took my family out for brunch and met a guy who fixes ships and tankers. A very understated guy who helps others who take risks to build and protect their wealth. He told me of his current boss, who is on his 4th tanker and looking to do 20. His boss is 35 years old and a Nigerian of Indian origin. His own father is very wealthy. He can take advantage of his father’s wealth to grow because he learned from his dad how to avoid the risks and pitfalls. I thought about my life and realized that I saw those risks and pitfalls with my uncle, whom I lived with longer than I lived with my father, and who raised me, but it was Herbert who learned the most and became rich. My uncle used to tell us that there is no crime at all in being poor, and in fact, most poor people are the happiest. The greatest crime is being rich and being poor again. You destroy hope for so many people in the process. It is why he always fought back after every adversity and came back up. I realized that I learned that part very well from him. It is the most valuable gift he gave to me. Those who learned from him and just became rich didn't see the full life cycle. Henry Abebe, Aigboje, Herbert, and I did. It changed all of us in different ways. For them, it was about taking maximum risks and winning. For me, it was to play the long-term game while remaining functional. My uncle turns 70 this year, and I have been with him for more than half of his life. I have seen that many risks aren't worth it. Life is meant to be lived and not performed. My biggest mentor is 80 and lives in Cornwall, England. I can't wait to visit him this summer, as I learned a lot more from him about the long game than anyone else. A business he started after age 60 generates millions of pounds in profit each month and is still growing. He and his wife now follow their granddaughter, who plays Rugby for England, around the world while his son runs the business.

Fulani herdsmen were caught destroying farms in Osun state. The farmers and herders were arrested by the police. Later, the police released the herders but detained the farmers. When asked why, the police told the people that the Fulanis had insisted that the farmers must spend 48hrs in detention before bail. This is not fiction. This is a true story in Osun state. The mighty and powerful are behind the Fulani herders. One call from Abuja, and the Fulanis will have their ways. This is Animal Farm.
