Guys, the AI thing is real. It just is. I keep waiting for any speck of evidence that it may not be, partly out of inherent skepticism, and it's just not materializing.

how can it put everyone out of a job if it sucks at everything? You cannot hold both the view that it can't do anything useful and that it's going to put people out of jobs. It's reasonable to be worried about job loss, but only if you accept the (correct) premise, that AI is useful

It is what happened, read the remarks from the mathematicians! There’s a multitude of reasons that it’s not the end of math or whatever, and maybe finding a counter example is something AI is more suited for, but this is a genuine result. It also doesn’t mean that AI is going to solve everything, or every proof it suggests is right, but it did in fact do this. Which is awesome.

@kareem_carr How much money would be too much money for this? 100 thousand? 250 thousand? 1 million? I doubt the inference, even as expensive as it might be for their latest and greatest model, even gets close to that order of magnitude. I frankly doubt that it hit 5 figures in token costs
