@Leo_nxgen I don’t think Rice is the issue in any of these clips. At no point does Zubimendi make any attempt to be free. Watch Rodri the other side, do you think he ever just stands marked. Even if he’s being man marked he’ll draw people around to create space for others.

You can't try to limit a team PSG, Bayern, City or Barcelona with this, they'd find solutions with quality. This is where I have problems with Rice (if people think he's as elite on the ball). He hasn't shown that level of control or tempo in his game. I don't think anyone saw Pep drawing up a 4-2-4 to limit Arsenal's progression but it's no secret that Saliba and Gabriel aren't elite on the ball. Arne Slot did something similar at the Emirates. He forced Arsenal to play through their center backs and man-marked Zubimendi. They didn't progress easily in that game. You need quality in this moment asides structure. Life without Ødegaard...

@Premierseafoods Very much so. Sunderland and Leeds are by no means the worst I’ve seen this season. You watch some teams and every corner someone hits the floor to try and win a penalty. It’s killing the game.

Do professional footballers practice this bollocks on the training ground? Absolutely grinds my gears all this holding. All this just from a free kick on the halfway line!

@LUFCHistory Leeds had 70% of possession, yet still committed 15 fouls. Sunderland had 30% possession and only committed 19. How have Leeds committed so many fouls when sunderland had so little of the ball, then complain about the oppo cheating 🤷🏻‍♂️

I’m so close to giving up on modern day football after last night. The opposition blatantly cheating, players constantly going to ground and time wasting, VAR is not fit for purpose, constant fouls going unpunished. Football is not enjoyable anymore The game is dying!

@Andy__SAFC Stonewall, completely agree. But they're not supposed to show contentious decisions on the big screen as far as I'm aware?

The big screen shows it, Elland Road enraged. Not sure that's supposed to happen. Rodon and others having words with the referee. Struijk delaying. #lufc

Draw wouldve been fair, but this is a crazy statement Sunderland were without their starting keeper (whos been incredible), starting rb (been incredible), starting lb and backup lb, xhaka from the start, starting cf (so important to them) Cant fault how they went about it
Graham Smyth@GrahamSmyth

Diarra scores. Darlow went the right way but couldn't keep it out. One of the least deserved results of the season could be on. But this is on Leeds. They haven't done enough at all. And the set-up hasn't worked. James and Gnonto run back to the dugout. 0-1 #lufc

@BrynLaw @pootzwar Sounds like it’s the point you’re making. While wouldn’t have complained if it was given, I also see why it wasn’t. Struijk just flops to the floor. Trapping happens at all corners, O’Nien puts his arms round his neck yes, but he doesn’t bring him down.

@pootzwar That isn’t the point. They looked at those and made an intervention. What was different with the Struijk incident?

I find it confusing that VAR ops can spot and correct a marginal offside or a brush of a ball with a hand but not hands around the neck of an opponent in the penalty area. What’s the criteria for intervention here? Which is the worst of these as an ‘action’? #VAR

@ItzJack1995 @coley_79 @FA_PGMOL Well he doesn’t rag him to the floor does he. He puts his arms round his neck and Struijk just flops to the floor. Never seen anyone “ragged” to the floor as you say go down like that.

@KAILUFC11 You do realise we don’t play like that every week don’t you? We went to do a job while missing both full backs, our key centre midfielder, two wingers and a centre forward? Our fourth choice right back got man of the match…

Feel awful for the Sunderland fans paying week in week out to watch that cancerous kamikaze gamesmanship for 90 minutes. Need to wash my eyes with bleach after that. Horrific watch, robbed us blind for all 3 points there and that’s the worst we’ve played at home all season.

@TBradley23 What does it tell you? That Ampadu deliberately handballed it? And that while I don’t like what O’Nien does here, does he actually pull the guy down or does he just collapse in a heap because he felt arms on him and wasn’t getting anywhere near the ball 🤷🏻‍♂️

The fact VAR looked at this and said it’s not a clear and obvious error (even though it quite clearly is) and then the ref proceeded to watch the Ampadu handball about 47 times before deciding it was a pen, tells us everything we need to know.

@LUFC1992_v2 I don’t think the ref did a whole lot wrong. When players insist on falling to the floor every 30’seconds, screaming when there’s a brush against them, how are they supposed to be sure what’s actually a foul and what’s not. Impossible job for them the way the league is now.

Another example of the woeful refereeing display at Elland Road last night Diarra - 2 fouls and booked on ‘totting up’ (Attwell pointing dramatically to all the parts of the pitch) Alderete - 5 fouls and no yellow Make it make sense… #lufc

@theadelites You talk as if sunderland were the only ones doing it. Leeds had players falling over, rolling round and feigning injury all night too. It was a terrible game, sunderland were the main protagonist in it, but don’t pretend like Leeds were innocent in it.

FT #LUFC 0 Sunderland 1 Football as a spectacle is dead unless the officials get a grip on the game. What an awful embarrassment that was, terrible football from Sunderland, constant diving, time-wasting, faking an injury to have a team talk, Regis constantly yapping at the 4th official. This is Bielsa’s nightmare, so far removed from the level of football we know is possible. Sunderland have absolutely no shame. But, ultimately, Leeds have never done it the easy way and will need to wise up. They looked like they lacked energy after two huge and emotionally draining games in a matter of days against two teams who had to employ every dark art known to man to scrape a result. This has to provoke a reaction from this group. And I expect it to and I fully expect Leeds to come out swinging in their remaining games.

@SkySportsNews I’m not sure what the issue is. He makes a clear movement of his arm, towards the ball, to take the ball away from an attacker in the direction he wants to go. It’s about as deliberate a handball as there is 🤷🏻‍♂️

@sparky_lufc @LUFCDATA It’s the problem with football now. I saw a stat that 10 years ago the players with the most passes were all midfielders. This season 9 out of the top 10 are centre backs.

@LUFCDATA I'd like to know how many touches of the ball Darlow had, then rank it against the rest of the team tonight. I don't think I've ever seen so many pass backs. It was utterly tedious.
