An Israeli analyst confirms accounts of Palestinians being raped and sexually assaulted using dogs at Israeli detention sites, citing two guards he spoke with at Sde Teiman torture prison. “One had witnessed it and said it was too awful to describe. The other said he had heard about it from others and believed it was true.” Ben-Ephraim shares documented cases by various human rights groups below. “This happened. This is still happening. The evidence is overwhelming,” he notes.
Shaiel Ben-Ephraim@academic_la

Some have said that claims that Israel uses dogs to sexually abuse prisoners are antisemitic blood libels. Unfortunately, there is a good deal of evidence. The organizations that confirmed this include B’Tselem, Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor, Palestinian Centre for Human Rights, Council on American-Islamic Relations. Here is the testimony of survivors: 1) "Nihad" (50-year-old father, Ofer Prison): In an interview with Anadolu Agency, Nihad testified that during a pre-dawn raid on January 14, 2024, Israeli soldiers ordered a police dog to sexually assault him. He described it as "the most painful moments of my life" and noted that the assault left him with deep physical wounds and long-term trauma. 2) "A.A." (35-year-old father, Sde Teiman): Arrested from Al-Shifa Hospital in March 2024, A.A. told the PCHR that soldiers took him to a corridor away from cameras, stripped him naked, and unleashed dogs that urinated on him before one dog raped him anally for approximately three minutes. He emphasized that the dog appeared "trained" and "knew exactly what it was doing". 3) "Halim Salem" (Pseudonym, West Bank Detainee): Testified to Middle East Eye that while he was forced to kneel with his head in a toilet, guards brought in a dog that "mounted and raped" him. He recalled that when he screamed, the guards beat him for "disturbing the dog". 4) "Wajdi" (43-year-old, Gaza Detainee): Recounted to the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor that during interrogation, he was tied naked to a metal bed and raped by both a soldier and a dog while other soldiers filmed and mocked him. 5) Mohammed Arab (Al Araby TV Correspondent): While detained at Sde Teiman, he told his lawyer he witnessed soldiers forcing dogs to rape prisoners. He stated, "They teach their dogs to have sex with prisoners. Can you imagine?". 6) 18-year-old Gazan Detainee (Sde Teiman): Testified to PCHR that while he and other captives were being raped with bottles by soldiers, there was "also a dog behind us, as if the dog was raping us," serving as a form of extreme psychological and physical humiliation. 7) 48-year-old Detainee (Al-Shifa/Military Outpost): Reported witnessing a dog maul another man’s genitals until the victim bled to death in his arms. 8) The Committee to Protect Journalists and Middle East Monitor have collected dozens of testimonies from journalists who reported being subjected to "dog attacks" and sexualized torture during their detention. I talked to two guards in Sde Teiman, on more than one occasion. One had seen this happen and said it was too awful to talk about. The other said that he had heard about it from others and believed it was true. This happened. This is happening still. The evidence is too overwhelming.

The first time I was flying to Beirut, the desk officer at London Heathrow asked before checking us in, “have you been to Israel?” We had rehearsed the answer to this question before. But Winston can't lie, so he said yes. I gave him the dirty look. There goes our vacation! "Well, you don't have the stamp on your passports so just make sure you tell the officer in Beirut that you haven't," she intoned. I was stressed out for the next 5 hours, and even more so when we had to face the border officer who, by the grace of God, did not ask us THE question (even though he took our passports to a secondary office for extra checks). Spending time in Beirut, you realize that it's the same Mediterranean light that bathes Tel Aviv; the sea is the same shade of shimmering blue because... well, it's the same sea. In both places, young people spill out of clubs at sunrise, the bass still thumping from rooftops that overlook the same ancient coastline. Both cities pulse with the same Levantine hunger for life: the clink of arak glasses, endless plates of hummus swirled with olive oil, the sudden eruption of dabke or house music that pulls strangers into a circle. Parties start on the rooftops of Gemmayze in Beirut and tumble down into Mar Mikhael’s narrow alleys; in Tel Aviv they begin on the sand at Gordon Beach and migrate to the warehouses of the Florentin district. These are both stylish people who love life, and who love to party. The energy is truly infectious. The accents may differ but something about this weird combination along with a deep sense of rootedness in community and the extended family really underscore how similar they were. And yet, there's been a wall between these two peoples. There are no flights stitching the 45 min hop across the water. No commercial trucks rumbling between the ports. Lebanese law forbids its citizens - inside the country or in the diaspora - from so much as speaking to an Israeli, a rule so absolute that some Lebanese friends of mine who live in Europe still glance over their shoulders before typing a reply to any Israeli even outside the country, whether for business or pleasure. I spent evenings in Beirut listening to Lebanese friends speak of Israelis not as the enemy but as people caught in the same endless loop of fear and longing. Decades of Hezbollah’s shadow have hollowed out parts of Lebanon, turning the south into a garrison and the economy into a ruin. Yet in the cafés of Achrafieh and the mountain villages above the city you hear it more and more: a quiet, exhausted recognition that the real hostage-takers are not across the border but inside it. I keep imagining the day the question at Beirut airport changes. I keep picturing the first flight from Rafic Harari to Ben Gurion. One day the music will be louder than the fear. One day the Lebanese and the Israelis will throw the party the rest of the world has been waiting for. I hope this is the first step:

Nothing like being forced to change by the shifting tectonic plates of geopolitics. It of course takes time but subjective preferences, fall by the wayside in the face of objective strategic realities. There is no way that Pakistan plays a role in the Middle East/West Asia and not find a way to work with Israel. I’ve been saying this since well before the Board of Peace for Gaza came about. As the US pushes ahead with its burden sharing/shifting geostrategy the old ways of doing things will whither away. In many ways, this is already happening. So much of what was until very recently deemed unthinkable has come to pass.
Sadanand Dhume@dhume

It’s hard to think of any country with less space than Pakistan to discuss Israel calmly and rationally. India has its share of both Israel lovers and Israel bashers. In Pakistan, Israel-bashing is the only flavor available.

Netanyahu impresses me a lot. What kind of power is this that can shatter Trump’s popularity and still continue to call the shots? What kind of symbiosis has been created that not even the threat of defeat in both chambers can stop? The White House is swimming against the internal and global current, and even so, it refuses to reassess its course.

Try to find the difference between Italy's @espressonline magazine and the Nazi Der Sturmer's depiction of Jews. I was not able to see any difference. Any Holocaust museum and scholar who is silent in the face of such antisemitism has forgotten the main lesson of the Holocaust--do not remain silent in the face of evil.

Italy's magazine @espressonline publishing Antisemitic Der Strumer worthy imagery should clarify where they got this image from. The military vest warn here is no longer in use by the IDF, the wedding ring and bracelet are never worn by ultra Orthodox men, the formation of the beard and Kippah are outlandish, and of course the very bizarre smile/showing teeth are unnatural.

Children of the lion and the sun, be ready for round 2. This time, the Islamic terrorists will go, and you will stay . More likely, PAKISTAN WILL FAIL AGAIN. Kashmir unresolved, borders messy, and yet somehow volunteering to fix everyone else. Impressive confidence. You can’t be a lifeguard when you’re still learning how to swim. If you’re serious about tackling Iran’s terrorism, maybe start with the fires closer to home Kashmir isn’t exactly quiet. Pakistan failed because Iran still hasn’t opened the Strait of Hormuz. The reality is simple: this isn’t negotiation with Trump administration, it’s control. The UAE DOES NOT ACCEPT PIRACY, TERRORISTS, or anyone trying to control international waters. FREEDOM of NAVIGATION is not a FAVOR it’s international law.

Before the war in Iran, crude oil index (say Arab Light) moved in tandem with Platt’s Diesel index. Pakistan priced diesel according to imported Platt’s prices and refineries in Pakistan who imported crude oil and refined the product here made normal profits. Since the war began the gap or refining margin or crack spread between crude oil and refined diesel has increased exponentially and refineries are making enormous profits. That’s why the formula needs to change now. And this formula, which was adopted in 2019 by PTI govt, was fine before the war. I don’t know why the govt has been so extra kind to refineries for the last month and has bestowed on them over Rs 75 bn. But this madness has to stop now.
