It acknowledges Sybok's gullibility and encapsulates the plot in a single sentence.
The movie still sucks.

While some movies play fast and loose with the character (Keaton's Batman kills a lot, for example, much like early Batman) the dichotomy of Bruce/Batman has been a defining characteristic for 89 years and has been explored in literally every other adaptation

Whether you look at his first appearance in DC 27, the classic origin in Year One, or the modern origin in Year Zero, he's always known Bruce is important to being Batman
