Point taken on enrollment drop, but $557M in 2016 is $758M in 2026.
Budget has kept with inflation even as enrollment declined. Does not seem to have increased in scale.

10 yrs ago, Mpls Pub Schools had ~36,000 students, 6k staff, 73 total sites & an Operations budget of $557M. This yr, MPS has ~29k students, 6k staff, 73 sites & a proposed Ops budget of $719M. To summarize: enrollment is down 20%, budgets are up 30% & that's why MPS is broke. 1/

Licenses exist to (ostensibly) protect consumers, not harm them, and once licenses are used to intentionally and openly harm consumers and limit competition to promote some other cause, they become a source of bottomless tyranny. It's the right's version of DEI.

Why should anyone in the country illegally be able to obtain licenses an certifications? Worst of all they all used thesame public services (like schools ) as tax payers - passing on the burden of so called cheap labor to tax payers . Then to show their gratitude they hate on the white people who founded the country and vote for the most psychotic communist on the books to destroy what’s left of the economy with net zero and lockdowns and vaccine mandates and to abort all children and mutilate the genitals of the ones they didn’t abort…

Legal immigrants' incarceration rate is 75% below the US-born's. Only 8% of incarcerated legal immigrants have a college degree. So their incarceration rate is ~zero. Setting aside their positive economic effects, that alone would justify ending caps on green cards for them.

@boringbunny This doesn't explain it b/c the gap predates the existence of those policies, the gap exists in places like Texas without those policies, and for every jurisdiction with a policy like that, there are 5 with mandatory hold policies that keep noncitizens detained longer.

Been here for the better part of a decade with no problems yet somehow it's a priority for ICE to track her down, tackle her in an airport in front of her kid, using mass surveillance tools that should be illegal. ICE refuses to follow the law & prioritize serious criminals

Looks like Aisha Chughtai is already back from her Cuba trip, so people that want to be mad at her for nothing are going to find another reason to be upset.
Didn’t hear shit about Mayor Frey disappearing to NYC to be on tv and podcasts while ICE was in Minneapolis, but whatever.

A notable absence from the SD 61 and 62 conventions is Aisha Chughtai, who evidently is in Cuba right now as it is experiencing nationwide blackouts. A pretty strange but compelling storyline that seemingly no local outlet is picking up.

@jacob_mauren It seemed like Frey was mainly doing PR for himself, and lots of interviews not just one, but that's another topic I guess.
Aisha seemed to be there for humanitarian aid for the people of Cuba during a crisis, not to prop up any of Cuba's political leaders.
