@silvbee

I don't post on this platform anymore. I have started a BlueSky account @naturenoise but I wont be engaging with social media much going forwards.

Why climate change (not beavers) is the greatest threat to floodplain farmers. In this letter we look at the issues farmer face & what might be done to help. Thanks to @scottishfarmer for publishing. #beaver

@argatyredkites @scottishfarmer @emccandless89 @james_nairne @gow_derek @RuthTingay @NFUStweets @PCairnsPhoto @hdonaldrural @EdinvaleFarm @gillersn Excellent article. Storm Babet brought Angus its wettest day on record since 1891, what followed was one of the wettest winters on record which meant many crops couldn't get planted. Beaver didn't do this, a changing climate did and farming must adapt. metoffice.gov.uk/binaries/conte…

Think you're having a bad day? At least it's not as bad as this small white caterpillar that's found itself host to a parasitic wasp!

To all the England fans in Germany this morning moaning that the team didn't put in a good performance when they won the group how about you just enjoy the fact your team are still in the competition and have a good time. Show some #positivity

The non-lethal measures that were trialled in this case was to tie silver ribbon to the chimneys most of which blew away a few days later. These nesting gulls may be a nuisance to some but that is not a licensable reason to destroy the nests of an amber listed species.

Lesser black-backed gulls screaming in the estate where I live today as their nests are removed, most with eggs 2-3weeks into incubation. @NatureScot how is this licenced lethal control authorised under the tighter guidance issued on gulls? 1/2

This is a distant heavy crop bur thought it was worth posting as its the first time I've personally witnessed this. Watched this female Cuckoo go to ground then come up a minute or so later with a Pipit egg, obviously she had just laid hers to replace it!

One of two Cuckoo here at Kinnabus, @RSPBScotland The Oa, this afternoon. Early arrival for a species we generally don’t get sightings of until later in the month, Storm Kathleen no doubt playing a part in that.

My first Short-necked Oil Beetle of the year was out in today's warm Barra sunshine, a week earlier than last year. Barely a centimetre in length at present, it'll soon double in size on a diet of Buttercup leaves. @OilBeetlesUK
