@scottishfarmer All crap. They have been warning this for years. At least Nostradamus was imaginative. The SF warnings are just repetitive, stupid and dull.

@gow_derek @BirdGuides References please, Derek. If there had been, beyond the odd place name & Medieval doodles in religious texts - you know, bones & fossils in middens in the Fens & Somerset levels (where dozens of species have been ID'd) let us know. Holocene, mind. Not pre-Pre-Würmian (>115 kya).

Natural England has revealed that it does not believe White Storks to be native to Britain – and it views releases of the species as not a conservation priority: bit.ly/4trku5u

@gow_derek @BirdGuides Either way, I think the conclusion that it "..is not a conservation priority" is pretty unarguable.

@EmmaforWycombe I'd this the lady that said no to lynx and prevented FE from reintroductions in its holdings. Superficial is where Labour are.

Only a Labour government can deliver for the environment and nature. Labour is rewilding, reintroducing endangered species and planting new forests, while the Greens have given up on nature and oppose solar farms and Reform wants to bring back fracking. theguardian.com/environment/20…

@Bluebell852 @Radmore_farm @NoFarmsNoFoods No merely commentated on assertion that it was pure grass to meat. You use no clickzins ? Habitat loss and fragmentation and destruction have lots to do with farming.

@gow_derek @Radmore_farm @NoFarmsNoFoods So is overpopulation, industrial activity, fossil fuels, plastic & chemical pollution, habitat loss/fragmentation, drugs of all kinds in our waterways, dogs, but you always want to single out the humble farmer…

You don’t have to spend money to support farms. Boosting awareness is just as important and effective

@otteradrift @RosieP4 It's not Yellowstone. It's at best a denuded cultural landscape that's largely devoid of natural life.

@gow_derek @RosieP4 If you're walking around England outside the national parks, that's a tough ask! I can at least see trees, hedge and uncut verge. : ) Do you see RTR as being related in any way to rewilding? Or was your reply a non sequitur?

Today I ‘roamed’ in the countryside. No need to trespass or moan about access. I walked along one of the 140,000 miles of public rights of way. Right to Roam: pointless and bad for nature

@Bluebell852 @Radmore_farm @NoFarmsNoFoods Have you any idea how toxic these things are the impact they the have on soil invertebrates, on bats, on naked chicks in their nests. Well worth checking up on ivermectin's. It's not just grass into meat.

@ryanleeball @BenGoldsmith In the end when the sheep leave the landscapes they have abused for centuries and the trees reclaim their realm the wolves will have to be brought back. We have no competent ability in Britain to do this sort of big thing. That's the real mid term issue.

@BenGoldsmith Do you realistically see the UK (likely Scotland) ever having its own wild wolves again, or will that be a step too far for people?

"What we're losing is the diversity... They are enormous losses." Prof Richard Fox, head of science at the UK Butterfly Monitoring Scheme, explains what their volunteer data collected over the last half century can tell us about the decline of some species.

Two predatory species rightly being reintroduced to England and Wales. But don't they predate ground nesting birds, but didn't Tony Juniper of NE say foxes and badger numbers need to be controlled to protect ground nesting birds. Why the double standards.

In these deeply unstable times, our country's ability to feed itself is vital. And yet England is now the only country in Europe that does not use its farm payment scheme to support its farmers to produce food. I'm urging the Prime Minister to get serious about food security.

On the west coast for last few days. Much whining goes on about eagles and the damage they do to sheep. Little is ever said about the casual losses of stock in volume which litter the land and enable predators to feed - albeit on carcasses which may contain toxins.
