Before I say anything else, no I obviously don’t want us to get relegated. I’ll be praying til the end that it doesn’t happen. But I tell you what, if you told me that getting relegated would remove the toxicity from inside the club. That it would remove the deadweight players who can’t wait to move on in the summer. That it would force the owners to sell up to people with real ambition who are prepared to put real football people in charge of the big decisions at the club. That it would rid us of Vinai and Lange. That it would give us a chance to reset. That the huge day-tripper/tourist element would be removed because they would lose interest and not want to attend championship games. That it would force those in charge to have a complete rethink about the layout of the stadium, future proofing the fan interaction to make sure the club becomes about the fans again. If all that happened, then it might not be the worst thing in the world to go down. I’d take a season in the championship if that was the outcome. That would be preferable to staying up by the skin of our teeth and starting next season with the same hierarchy who’ve got literally everything wrong so far. Them getting away with it and even being praised for our survival is worse than relegation. Because if nothing changes, we will more than likely be going through the exact same hell next season that we’re going through now. Four home league wins in thirty matches isn’t a bad spell, it’s the norm. This doesn’t change until everything else does. See you in 3 weeks. COYS
