BREAKING: We now have the confirmation they attacked and tried to break the silver market at SHFE today - The SHFE is now will restrict the relevant accounts. Translation from Chinese below. "On February 5, 2026, six groups of accounts under actual control exceeded the daily trading volume limit for relevant contracts , reaching the exchange's processing standard. The aforementioned clients' trading activities violated Article 16 of the " Shanghai Futures Exchange Abnormal Trading Behavior Management Measures ," and the exchange decided to take regulatory measures to restrict the opening of positions by the relevant clients in the corresponding contracts."

This is the most incredible thing I believe ever happened in the history of commodity markets in Asia. ⚠️👇 1,396,553 contracts traded at the SHFE this morning on the Apr26 silver futures ALONE, equivalent to 674,328,157.94 oz of physical silver. In the whole morning overal contracts traded equivalent to 1,343,900,000 oz of physical silver or almost double the ANNUAL silver mined. This is NOT retail; this was a brutal short-selling attack to crash the Chinese silver market intentionally. But guess what? Prices remain at a big premium vs Comex/LBMA, and silver nevertheless remained in backwardation, again, signalling these paper games aren't changing the fundamentals whatsoever

@AndreasSteno @TFMetals We know that the BLS did cook the numbers for sure 100% because before the shutdown they were already cooking the numbers via hedonic adjustments, exclusion of food and energy, and other nonsense methodologies which artificially deflate the CPI. This has been happening for years.

NO THE BLS DID NOT COOK THE NUMBERS When you have not collected the data in October due to the shutdown, you obviously cannot calculate the change month on month, but only year over year in November, as you only have a price observation in November and not one from October. That should be fairly straightforward to understand, but apparently it is not for quite a few commentators, some of them obviously suffering from TDS, even if I hate that term.

@DavidBCollum They do this in low skilled markets and high skilled markets to collect resumes. Even if they aren’r hiring they want to keep a fresh pipeline of interested applicants coming into the store such that when time does come that they need a position filled they already have leads.

The data center insight is sharp, but does he later prove A100s not being economically productive with math? Many companies can run A100s profitably even after 5+ years. This claim lacks his usual rigor. Plus, ML advancements should make extending life easier, not harder, for future chips.
