I think just by looking at the players we have targeted this summer. Doesn’t that provide a fairly good picture? We also know the environment he came from playing with Scholes, what he has done at other places etc. There is a long segment where Carrick analyze PSG’s midfield — he is quite lyrical.

Honestly, I think we are listening a lot on Carrick in the midfield hunt. For me it’s clear that Baleba makes the most sense for a manager like ETH or RDZ who really isolates his No 6 in the build up. That 6 needs to be very very press resistent and strong physically with legs to cover a lot of ground. This is what makes Baleba a bit unique. If a manager wants two sitting CMs, ie more like Keane and Scholes, I am not surprised if that manager rates Baleba much lower. And as other already have noted — RDZ brought in Baleba to Brighton and Baleba broke through under him. Yet — despite signing two midfielders — there were never any links to Baleba. It’s not the best of looks.

The reason the Mounts and Shaws won’t be sold is we hugely overpaid and/or have them on salaries well beyond their qualities. This is why overpaying for 21 year olds by £30/40m and putting them on £250k is too a big a risk. 50% of all transfers fail at the best run clubs, so to avoid more Mounts/Shaws we need a structure we do not break for just anybody.

No matter what the management says or does, some people will always find something to complain about. IMO we shouldn’t condemn everything INEOS is doing simply because of our dislike for the Glazers. I don’t like the Glazers either, but that doesn’t mean every decision made by the new ownership or management should automatically be viewed negatively. Change is the only constant. Sometimes we have to be open to new ideas and different approaches. We even criticize our parents sometimes when they are too rigid and unwilling to adapt to change. The same applies here, we can hold INEOS accountable while still giving them a fair chance to implement their plans. Criticism should be based on the actual decisions and results, not just emotions from the past. There is a difference between fair criticism and complaining about every single decision. They genuinely don’t want him now following Anthony Gordon’s arrival and Raphinha returning to fitness. 4. Another loan (useful for a club with financial issues). Certain realities… 1. Rashford obviously loved his time at Barcelona. Playing with a smile again. 2. Done well for Barcelona (14 goals, 11 assists, 49 games) and can play central. 3. Hansi Flick likes him. 4.
