So I have to be in Boston for a week and I fancy popping down to New York for a day. The train appears to take four hours, running at under 100kph. Is this really true? I had somehow got the impression that this was Amtrak's one high speed route. Is that just NY-DC?

I actually don’t have a problem with labeling the BBC as government funded but it stands for British Broadcasting Corporation. The name doesn’t tell you anything about who funds it. What am I missing about his question?

@paleofuture Yeah, it isn’t clear outside the UK, which is why I asked rather than judged.

@simon_frantz I was under the impression that the government collected the license fee but I see that's incorrect. I didn't know that and I'm wrong. I blame that movie from a couple years ago with Jim Broadbent for misleading me. Apparently the BBC started collecting it directly in 1991.

@paleofuture It isn’t, but curious about why you think it is.

@simon_frantz Sure, but that's like saying Social Security in the U.S. isn't government funded, it's funded by American workers.

I buried one of my brothers this weekend, Adam Solomon. He was the easy-going soul of my very best friends, guys I've known since 1st grade, who to this day are like brothers to me. He got me into lifting a decade ago. He was at the gym, doing what he loved, when he died.
