It’s been a productive week in Washington D.C., between the Stand With Crypto Day event, our Axios-hosted discussion with key legislators, and some timely Congressional hearings on crypto and DeFi. It reaffirmed that conversations around decentralization and policy are getting louder. Web3 fundamentally changes how we think about technology and ownership, putting control back in the hands of individuals, and ensures privacy and new opportunities for all. Decentralization is embedded deeply in our core, American values of freedom and self-sovereignty. Other countries have already integrated web3 into their systems. As we catch up, we need an open-minded, forward-thinking, and bipartisan approach to regulation that promotes and nurtures innovation, protects users, and allows businesses to thrive. America won the internet, and that was very good for America and the world. We’re at a similar junction now, but we risk falling behind if we don’t embrace this natural evolution of the internet and web technologies. It is all about re-decentralizing the internet and web, and this time making the decentralized architecture more durable and less capturable. And of course we will have to be incessantly vigilant. And the Ethereum community is certainly that. LFG.
