I spoke with Caty McNally, the only player to take a set off Iga Swiatek at Wimbledon. I asked her about it here: youtu.be/k2ouFF31LAk?si…

Cam Norrie beat Kecmanovic 7-0 in the 3rd set breaker in Monte Carlo Round 1 Norrie looked like his career as a Top 50 player was slipping out not long ago. Found his old form and is back winning matches against quality guys

Not sure how many people listened to Adolfo Daniel Vallejo’s post match interview against Svajda but man oh man is he a cool customer. Barely even looked fazed after being told that he was the first Paraguayan since 2006 to win 2+ ATP matches in a season. Big future here!

Sunshine double complete! Aryna Sabalenka becomes the fifth woman to do it, and the first since Iga Świątek in 2022. After dropping the second set, she came out firing in the third and never looked back. The quicker courts suited her, but her defense stood out as well. Took risks off the backhand, especially down the line to force Gauff into forehand defense. Anytime she got backhand with height, she attacked it early and went crosscourt. Another good clash between these two, in which the crowd was heavily invested.

Martín Landaluce follows up the best win of his career by taking down Seb Korda! It’s been such an impressive this week coming from qualies. I meant to tweet about his match vs. Khachanov, but here we are two days later…his ability to handle the slice and generate pace, especially off the +1, stands out. Creates racquet head speed so easily, opening up both the inside-out and inside-in forehand. Showed that well in his win over Khachanov. His movement feels explosive! So solid defensively on the backhand side too, mixing in a good slice and choosing his moments to come forward. Maybe a bit quick to pull the trigger overall, but that’s the risk/reward of playing big on these courts, especially on return. So impressive to hold his held after giving the break back in the third set. The week of his life!!

Alex Michelsen carving through lefties in Miami taking down Bellucci, Norrie, and now Tabilo. I wonder if this is some sort of record as it must be rare to face 3 lefties within a single tournament run. Just speaks to how comfortable he is handling lefty patterns, especially with that backhand holding up crosscourt.

What a win for Francis Tiafoe! It took a deciding tiebreak to get a winner (13-11), where Big Foe found a way to prevail after letting a 6-3 lead slip. Was favoring the weaker Mensik forehand, but it truly never gave, which is a huge credit to Mensik. Tiafoe made such confident decisions when coming to the net and then showed off the touch volleys when he needed it most. It felt like rally tolerance and his ability to create angle off the forehand won him the match. Such a great performance to take out the defending champion on home soil!

Stunning performance from Seb Korda, taking down Carlos Alcaraz in three sets after failing to serve out the match an hour earlier. Clean ball striking on full display, used the slice to neutralize and then confidently going back behind Alcaraz in rallies. Returned well and consistently rushed Alcaraz as the daytime conditions really suit Korda. Huge for his confidence. Alcaraz exits Miami early for a second straight year.

@TunedIntoTennis Yes, thats his normal demeanor. Comes off as emotionless, but tries to stay relaxed on court.

I watched the full 3rd set of that Moise Kouame vs Zachary Zvajda match and…. Kouame has some good fight in him but Zvajda looked like he couldn’t really be bothered if he won or lost it tbh. Is that his normal demeanor?

As Beatriz Haddad Maia loses her 5th consecutive match, it makes me think about her comparison to Nico Jarry on the men’s tour. 29 and 30 years old respectively, both have struggled over the past year. Despite a good US Open run for Haddad Maia and a strong Wimbledon run for Jarry, results have been tough. Both share a similar profile built around serve and forehand power. When they dictate early they’re dangerous, but that aggressive style can be streaky, and recently the consistency just hasn’t been there. Hopefully the momentum starts shifting back in their favor soon...

Ridiculous from Arthur Fery 🇬🇧 as he qualifies for the main draw in Miami 🇺🇸 🐬 as he comes from a double break down in third set to clinch a maiden masters 1000 main draw spot 6-3,3-6,7-6 over Bu 🇨🇳. Saved two break points at 4-4 after making the comeback showing some real heart and a which he showed earlier this year in Australia. Turning into a year of firsts for Arthur.

Big Call John calls it right again - You can't teach that #nostradamus Jack Draper beat Novak Djokovic at Indian Wells in one of the matches of the year. One person not only saw it coming, but also predicted the manner of the victory for the Brit #tennis #tennispredictions

When did challenges in tennis become a thing? This year? Don’t recall non line calls being challenged, but have seen like 5 at Indian Wells this year. - the digital screens changing - players distracting their opponent by moving their arms - if a ball double bounced

Dominant performance from Iga Świątek over Karolína Muchová, 6–2 6–0. Rattled off 10 straight games from 2–2 in the first set. The forehand was on fire, striking it more aggressively and dictating the rallies. A brief scare in the final game as Iga slid into a forehand and went down holding her right ankle, but she was able to continue. Something to monitor with another match tomorrow. The court gives her time to build points, but it’s her decision-making and style that make it all work.
