It was SS3 third term, and we’d just written our last WASSCE paper that very day.
We, the boys, were in our hostels partying and “changing it” for any junior who mildly tried to become a scapegoat that very day.
But unbeknownst to us, the way the girls celebrated was wilder than we anticipated.
While still awake at midnight, Nepa brought light, and from the boys’ hostel, some of us could see the fast circling of different colours as the fans rotated in our classroom.
But we didn’t think much of it until the morning when the VP Academic (Obendo) called all the SS3 seniors, which was very unusual because that day was supposed to be a free day for all the SS3 seniors.
As we were leaving the hostels with sleepy eyes after partying overnight and heading towards the admin block, we saw the atrocities in our classrooms: different colours of panties hanging from every ceiling fan from SS3A down to SS3E, both spoilt and unspoilt.
Somebody just shouted, “This bannies don kill person!” 😂
And that was how they deboarded every SS3 senior, both boys and girls, and we had all come from very far places inside Abuja. 😂
The only option for restitution was to come with a parent and sign an undertaking that you wouldn’t do anything to harm the school until graduation, and that my friend was where the problem was.
Some of us didn’t even have visitors during visiting days, not to mention an impromptu makeshift one. 😂
But I thank God for Chizoba and his mother, who that very day became the mother of 17 boys and 5 girls. She was so unfazed by the tackles of our VP Academic. They tried everything to sway her, but she stood her ground until she signed for all of us.
Very whosky woman! 😂
