I’ve been fortunate enough to have some time to stand back and reflect on the state of the field of post-acute infection syndromes(PAIS)/infection associated chronic conditions (IACC) such as #LongCOVID, #MECFS and chronic #Lyme and I wanted to share some opinions. Before I 1/

🚨Aankondiging opening eerste 3 poliklinieken Heel erg goed nieuws! Minister Pia Dijkstra van het Ministerie van VWS deelt net het heugelijke nieuws dat binnen enkele weken de eerste 3 Post Covid klinieken gaan openen. Het Erasmus MC, het UMC Amsterdam en het UMC in Maastricht openen als eerste de deuren voor long covidpatiënten. In de maanden die volgen, openen de overige Universitaire ziekenhuizen tevens Post Covid klinieken. 📍Aanmelden op later moment Voordat we allemaal meteen de telefoon in de hand nemen: Hoe en wanneer je je kunt aanmelden wordt op een later moment bekendgemaakt. Het is dus nog niet mogelijk om je aan te melden. De NFU (De Nederlandse Federatie van Universitair Medische Centra) is druk bezig om de triage-afspraken (het beoordelen van de urgentie van de hulpvraag) uit te werken. De patiëntenorganisaties adviseren hierin en zorgen dat de stem van de patiënt ook op dit punt gehoord wordt. Blijf ons volgen voor updates over de Post Covid Klinieken! #LongCovid

Update: husband has cleaned it off. - it has stained the patio bright blue - and he described it as ‘fragrant’ like a washing machine product So, I think we have a winning 🏆 theory: bird dropped a washing machine capsule (or similar) which dissolved in the morning dew

Introducing: mysterious blue blob! Husband spotted this on our patio, I can see it from the house and it is *bright* blue with an almost metallic appearance inside. What on earth could it be??

Update petitie!✍️ Vandaag gaan we met de petitie ‘Stem voor post-COVID-poliklinieken’ naar Den Haag. De petitie is al meer dan 105.000 keer ondertekend en loopt nog door. Om 13.15 uur bieden we, @LongCovidNL samen met @PostCovidNL, @NietHersteld, @KinderenLC en @StLongCOVID, de petitie in de Tweede Kamer aan. We overhandigen de petitie aan @FleurAgemaPVV. Agema is de voorzitter van de commissie voor Volksgezondheid, Welzijn en Sport (VWS). Ook andere Kamerleden van de commissie zijn aanwezig. Jullie kunnen de actie ondersteunen door bijgevoegde actieborden zoveel mogelijk te delen op de socials met hashtags #PoliKliniekenNU, #LongCovid, #VerborgenPandemie en #PAIS. @guustweet @ministerVWS mhmm terecht wel maar: huisarts snapt er nog minder van dan ik, longpoli: beste longen ooit!, bedrijfsarts: maar bijna iedereen knapt weer op!1:), fysio: massieve verslechtering na 3 weken, ergo: goed maar geen therapie. psycho: top maar geen therapie omdat niet mentaal ziek. 1/2

@Holstftw sterkte. heel herkenbaar. juist niet doorzetten bij de allerkleinste klachten maar een stap terug en rusten is zo ontzettend moeilijk. Vooral als het beter gaat en leuke dingen mogelijk zijn :(

Het was gelukt. Na een week werken heb ik ondanks klachten doorgezet, kom op! Einde is (nu echt) in zicht, doorzetten, opbouwen! Ben sindsdien ziek. Kan net klein rondje lopen en moet daarna gaan liggen. Ik zie dubbel, mijn hart slaat op hol, brainfog #Longcovid #Eigenwijs #PEM

Te ziek voor hulp. Story of my life. Vandaag te horen gekregen dat praktijk voor psychische hulp waar ik meer dan 1.5 jaar op de wachtlijst stond me afwijst omdat ik fysiek te slecht ben. Je kunt zelf nog zo graag willen, maar vaak is dat niet genoeg.

@KLCarpenter @EM_RESUS So sorry, it's absolutely horrible that no one checked this properly in the beginning. I have the same condition and it is super scary even if you know what it is. HR>200 bpm at rest, but luckily no episodes in the past months.

@EM_RESUS There’s an assumption that if you’re a woman you must be having anxiety issues when in reality, it is your heart. I was 30 with repeated tachycardia episodes & told it was anxiety-in reality, it was AV nodal reentry tachycardia. I had a successful ablation that saved my life.

If you could share one medical fact with the entire world that you believe would save lives, what would it be?

More background: not taking any supplements right now besides daily Vit D3 (20ug), weekly B12, and daily cetirizine (allergy related). Did occasionally smoke in the past so nicotine isn't completely new to me, which is why I didn't start with half a patch (that's the suggestion).

Started with 7mg and planned to take it off for the first night, but then I didn't. Sleep wasn't great but not horrible either. No nausea so far, feeling ok this morning with day 2 of #TheNicotineTest.
