The Senate Health, Education, Labor & Pensions Committee announces its expected college sports hearing for next Thursday. The committee, chaired by Bill Cassidy (R-La.), holds some jurisdiction over a college sports bill, mostly related to employment. help.senate.gov/hearings/dont-…

The #1 thing holding me back from using the Claude Desktop app for more things is performance. It's so slow and buggy. I'm on an M3 Max with 96GB of RAM and it drops frames when switching between the Chat and Code tabs...

Fair! Agreed there are many things athletes *could* ask for.
I guess I’m pondering: what is *so* painful at the individual level that it inspires large collective action?
Feels like we don’t see athletes “at the table” because they just don’t often care to be. Maybe that’s naive of me to say!

@siscoe @boyle176 @profgoose The biggest restriction is the rev share cap. That’s significant.
There are many other things athletes can bargain for.
Look at the NBA and NFL CBAs and see how many topics they cover.
There is also no minimum compensation currently like in those leagues.

@WinterSportsLaw @boyle176 @profgoose The only “restrictions” are CSC deal-blocking (what % of athletes does this really impact?) and eligibility (there will always be push/pull here but it’s not a new issue)

The status quo is very favorable to players—you can practically transfer at-will to pursue whatever NIL/Rev Share package someone is willing to offer you

@siscoe 1. there are no "salaries". There are rev-share payments 2. It's way too big. This is external money not related to school rev share. These are NIL payments from 3rd parties that must be vetted by the CSC

The College Sports Commission's new NIL Go report includes fascinating data around P4 dealmaking. P4 deals increased in scale, value and vessel (associated entities - MMR partners, apparel companies, etc) between Jan. + Feb. This window coincided w/ FB transfer portal (1/2-16).
