The Senate Health, Education, Labor & Pensions Committee announces its expected college sports hearing for next Thursday. The committee, chaired by Bill Cassidy (R-La.), holds some jurisdiction over a college sports bill, mostly related to employment. help.senate.gov/hearings/dont-…

@siscoe @amorriscode @brian_lovin I asked our linear agent (who can read the codebase): The Developer Toolbar “Jank” metric is a frame-drop percentage computed from requestAnimationFrame timing, sampled once per second over a rolling history window.

@amorriscode @brian_lovin At Linear we have this developer toolbar attach to the app that has a "jank" meter. Like it records fps and other things.

@WinterSportsLaw @siscoe @boyle176 and this is also where agents come in too, but agents only get involved when there is a payday large enough to merit their efforts... so for those on the less resourced side of things...

I’d highly recommend everyone in college athletics read this good and thoughtful work from @profgoose. This is the intellectual level people in college athletics need to be engaging at right now. open.substack.com/pub/kylesaunde…

Fair! Agreed there are many things athletes *could* ask for. I guess I’m pondering: what is *so* painful at the individual level that it inspires large collective action? Feels like we don’t see athletes “at the table” because they just don’t often care to be. Maybe that’s naive of me to say!

@siscoe @boyle176 @profgoose The biggest restriction is the rev share cap. That’s significant. There are many other things athletes can bargain for. Look at the NBA and NFL CBAs and see how many topics they cover. There is also no minimum compensation currently like in those leagues.

@WinterSportsLaw @boyle176 @profgoose The only “restrictions” are CSC deal-blocking (what % of athletes does this really impact?) and eligibility (there will always be push/pull here but it’s not a new issue)

@WinterSportsLaw @boyle176 @profgoose Good perspective. The thing I can’t wrap my head around is why athletes would themselves care to collectivize The status quo is very favorable to players—you can practically transfer at-will to pursue whatever NIL/Rev Share package someone is willing to offer you

@GTRecruitBuzz It’s not coincidence that athletes’ “NIL” became 200% more valuable during the month of the transfer portal Its salary

@siscoe 1. there are no "salaries". There are rev-share payments 2. It's way too big. This is external money not related to school rev share. These are NIL payments from 3rd parties that must be vetted by the CSC
