On stage at Delia Recordings’ Third Happening. It was a pleasure to play for this lovely audience and in such a beautiful venue. The reverb was bonkers.

@LippyKidMusic Thanks, Paul; I always appreciate your support xx — and it was fun, but church reverb is a total nightmare 😅

All set for tonight’s big show. I’m currently enjoying The Young Vanish soundchecking their superb set of Lost in Translation OST covers. Further support from Eleanor McGregor, Soundgas and Van Allen. Might be one or two tickets left. tickettailor.com/events/deliare…

Last time I saw @djshadow was 2002 at Rock City (and what a night that was). Tonight, 22 years later at The Glasshouse, Gateshead…

Leaving material in place is something I occasionally did as a young visual artist obsessed with land art. Now, as a musician, I’m returning to the process, inspired by innovative artists like @ErlandCooper (I may even have buried some tape ;)

With this project, I’m inviting the place to put its mark on the music. For this experiment, I secured prerecorded 1/4” tape loops with stones and let them ebb with the current. Back in the studio, I cleaned, assembled and digitised the tape and the result is full of character.

@jephfoust No, much easier. I use two of these: “Anker PowerCore 20100 - 20000mAh Ultra High Capacity”. Anything that gives 2.4A from a port works, and these have two. It’s an old model; I first bought one in 2016, recently bought another. amzn.eu/d/0geAJznZ

Enjoyed testing my portable setup this week, responding directly to the place. Here's an excerpt from a sketch I like, layering loops over birdsong, traffic, and the steady static of a nearby river.

@jephfoust And yeah, devising a robust and flexible portable set has taken some research. I can now power four devices from two Anker bricks (each with two USB ports) and a miscellany of expensive MyVolts and cheap step-up cables. I'm learning a lot about voltage and polarity 😅 2/2

@jephfoust I sketch ideas to start the session; when ready, I recorded each to the 4-track (bounced some to track 1; there are 6 layers). I bring them in or out and apply effects (master to pedals and back in) as required. Everything goes into digital recorder with live field recording. 1/2

I'm testing a USB-powered portable DAWless setup for field trips. Minilogue, 4-track, and pedals powered by two Anker bricks and a miscellany of USB step-up cables. It's all going into the DR-40 which also captures the environment. Let’s hope there are some breaks in the rain.
