@thecybersecguru follow the money... there is nothing organic about this type of content blocking, it follows the same playbook used to squash voices from people with a different perspectives regarding covid than what was pushed by big media. yahoo.com/news/articles/…

Same. Even posted transitioning from systemd to OpenRC: thecybersecguru.com/tutorials/swit… My post was removed after getting a lot of traction. Seems like they r hell bent on censoring anything against systemd. Also, a few PRs related to removal of age field in db is rejected and marked as spam by the maintainers. Utter nonsense

this absolutely baffles me. why are so many linux distros basically just caving on adding age verification, and closing off discussion on whether this is a good idea or not. Devuan is looking like a good contender to get around this.
XLibre@XLibreDev

We'd like to dedicate today's #LiberatedScreens to @DevuanOrg & Co. After systemd recently merged infrastructure code for age verification and locked discussions afterward, some of you may want to consider init freedom. Please see devuan.org/os/init-freedom for your options. #XLibre

@lorenzocabrini typical playbook when trying to force a topic — deny debate/discussion; call people wanting such debate names/cancel them; throw in claims like "makes it safe for everybody" this movement likely bankrolled by "Big ID™" as there is no value for a sub admin to do this alone

@jephfoust That's what I don't get either. Why not just allow an open discussion? What are these clowns so afraid of?

@JeromeFosterII i used to see ring necked pheasants in fields growing up in the 70s. i don't see them anymore. i do however see sandhill cranes roaming around. had a pair fly over my car earlier. so prehistoric.

Mono-culture farming devastates the rest of nature. Farmlands continue to lose much of their wildlife, bees, birds, insects, amphibians. But each generation measures "normal" nature against what existed in their childhood; not what existed before. So we don't mourn the Auroch, Quagga, Eastern Elk, or drained wetland. We never knew them. We each inherit a slightly emptier world & call it normal, a shifting baseline syndrome. Humans are remarkably adaptive... dangerously so.

In 2019 we removed machine-id from @DevuanOrg and we will remove age verification now. "AgelessLinux" is based on Debian, a foundation made to spy on users in a way or another, because it tracks machine-id. linux.slashdot.org/story/19/11/30…

SystemD has added birth date storage in order to comply with Brazil and California Age Verification laws. Let that sink in. A Linux init system now handles Age Verification. github.com/systemd/system…

There's an old joke in systems biology called "How Biologists Fix a Radio." A biologist, tasked with figuring out why a radio doesn't work, removes components one by one and catalogs the result. Remove this transistor: the radio makes a horrible screeching sound. Conclusion: this is the "horrible screeching transistor." Remove another component: the radio goes silent. Conclusion: this is the "silence transistor." This is essentially what we do with genomics. We see which genes are mutated in cancer and assume they must be "cancer genes." We see which genes are differentially expressed and assume they must be "important." But correlation is not causation, and a parts list is not a circuit diagram. You can have a complete inventory of every resistor, capacitor, and transistor in a radio and still have no idea how it plays music.

looking at this, i get the concept, but is it really any better? they're just breaking the division down by hundreds, then tens, then ones to add those up to get the answer. really just a different path to get to the same place.
BowTiedQueenBee@BowtiedQueenBee

My coworker sent me this picture of her daughter’s homework with this text- This type of long division makes no sense So they’re teaching some weird, new type of math that she can’t help her daughter with. I told her I’d help her homeschool. She might do it 😂

@BowtiedQueenBee apparently the math changers decided that to make long division easier, they should make it (checks notes), harder.
