@sixfivelando Great question. I was curious why Maddy saw such limited time down the stretch. Defensively not worse than sims or Zaza.

I asked Jose Fernandez about his decision not playing Maddy Siegrist in the fourth quarter and why he took Azzi Fudd out once the game got close, especially when her defense could have helped late in the game.

Maddy Siegrist on her role: “I don’t really know, I think you just gotta stay ready. I been in a lot of different roles in my career, whether coming off the bench, starting the game. Just trying to provide a boost wherever” She’s playing 14 min per game, down from 27 last year.

Jose Fernandez said he told the team there’s selfishness in the locker room. Fernandez told them to not get upset about minutes played and lack of shots. “Really good teams don’t give a shit about that. You know what they give a shit about? They give a shit about winning.”

Azzi Fudd should have stayed on the court, she was playing the best defense on Olivia Miles. And where is Maddy Siegrist? Siegrist and Bueckers were the best players tonight for Wings. She’s been sitting for a while.
