Noah Dobson doing his regular playoff performance where he won't hit, won't find an open man, won't clear the front, won't help at all in any real way.
Hutson, meanwhile, has been all over the place despite being thrown around consistently by other players. Watching the difference is hilarious.

NHL hasn’t relocated a single team in 15 years (no, I will not consider the coyotes to Utah). Revenue sharing, expansion billions, and long-term arena deals make it basically impossible.
Putting Canucks (top-10 attendance, massive market), Senators (new ownership + downtown arena), Ducks (richest owner + $1B+ renovations + 30yr lease) in “Real Possibility”?

You’re right — the sport has changed and defense behind the plate matters more now.
But even in the last 10-12 years, almost every WS winner had a catcher who could actually hit: Will Smith (’24 Dodgers), Jonah Heim (’23 Rangers), d’Arnaud (’21 Braves), etc.
Wells’ .183 / .609 OPS black hole is way worse than those “light-hitting” guys. Defense is elite, but you still need *some* bat from the position in October.

This sport has changed a lot, the Cs you listed are from a different era

You’re right — HOF catchers are outliers.
But even normal World Series catchers hit way better than Wells’ .180 / sub-.610 OPS black hole right now. Light-hitting glove guys rarely win rings without an elite lineup carrying them.
Wells has elite framing + a strong arm (throwing out ~74% of base stealers this year). Defense is legit.
But you still need a bat from the catcher spot in October.

You may be right that the pitching + defense looks solid with Wells behind the plate.
However… catchers with his exact profile (.220-ish AVG, sub-.710 OPS, low contact, power but not enough impact) basically **never** win World Series as starters.
Yogi, Bench, Posey, Munson, Posada, even Yadi — all hit way better. Light-hitting defensive catchers rarely ride the parade unless the lineup carries them hard. History says you need more bat from that spot in October.

The “Boone Swoon” maybe coming early this year… This team strikes out way too much. Absolutely no situational hitting. Leaving runners in scoring position with less than two outs…
1. You can’t have a leadoff hitter batting under .200. With no speed. (Making 22 million this year)
2. Wells can’t hit. He has some pop in his bat. But he can’t hit. He’s awful. Two catchers that can’t hit for that matter.
3. Mr. 50/50 is clueless at the plate. And is having a terrible year. And he wants a 10 year contract worth $350 Million dollars next year. Good luck with that…
